Yes, definitely, I let a colleague try on the watch she complimented me on, I don’t see why not.

I tend to do this as well. Maybe with my AP I am a little more careful

I would for the simple reason that they can't say your watch is a fake.

My paralegal wore mine (for a few seconds) before I did. I wouldn't have any problem handing my watch to a person I deem trustworthy, UNLESS he or she is asking me if it's a fake. I wouldn't hand it over to such a person.

Nothings changed. Still not really worried about someone wanting to try it on etc. cost a few bucks and a few weeks. No big deal. Taking your style of thinking

Whenever somebody at work or in a social setting makes a comment, I offer to let them try it on, which they always take me up on. I love seeing the look on their faces when they see how heavy it is.

But I don't offer that to strangers but tell them many thanks for the compliments.

Yep. Have a couple friends that admire my watch collection. Every time I see them I just take it off and pass it over.

Had a few acquaintances ask about my watch and I take it off and pass it over.

What fun is having this passion if we don't share it with other people. To me it is a gift we should share with those that are interested.

I was taking my wife's 8 year old grand nephew home after we made a tool box for him and equipped it with an assortment of hand tools. He looked at my DayDate and said " you have a gold watch". I handed him the watch. He hefted it and remarked on its weight. I told him to work hard and he could own a gold watch. Fun. But that's the only time anyone has remarked on my watches.

Sorry guys, but I'd have to say no. Only if it was a very good friend would I even consider such a request. It's presumptious for an acquaintance to ask and seems a bit self aggrandizing to offer.

Many of our watches, Rolex and otherwise, probably cost more than some vehicles. Would you be as generous allowing someone you don't know well to test drive your car?

Exceptions aside, I'm giving it the kibosh.

At my wife's obligatory, but very nice work employee dinner..right after I bought my 1 and only Rolex..whilst hanging out at the patio..she points and says proudly .."he's got a Rolex..."
Everyone ohhs and ahhs..and yes I let them handle it...but with the caveat..you drop it..you bought it..lol..
These were cool people though..if they were anything but..it would not have happened..

This, exactly. Whether it's my Sub, Marathon, Tag, whatever. If someone at work strikes up a conversation about a watch I'm wearing, I'd consider myself snobbish to not let them take a closer look. Granted, I wear watches that are a bit outside of my pay grade, if you will. Not all that common for a nurse to wear a Rolex to work. Letting a Doctor wear my Sub while I wore his Hulk was a humorous moment. Still working on the Doc with the gold President...

But if I'm at the range, and somebody is interested in a toy I'm using, I'll typically let them try that out, too.

Respect brother. You are the man. Life is short. Sharing is caring. And yeah man, in the grand scheme, not a big deal. Enjoy every day!!

I am happy to hand over my watch for others to see and try on.

And as for my cars. Anyone who wants to try my vehicles are more than welcome. In fact, I encourage people to take my cars out for a spin. It's so fulfilling to see the exhilaration on their faces driving things they most likely will never get to drive. And not to brag. My vehicles are all in excess of $200K. Well, except my Toyota that I take on Costco trips.

What's the point of having nice things if you can't share it with others who ask?

I've had watches handed to me by total strangers (in safe environments, AD, restaurants etc) and would do the same if another person showed an interest...

Unless one is a stuck up twat sharing is the whole point of owning nice things!

I encourage all of my friends to wear my watches. I want them to know what it feels like and hopefully enable them to get one too! It may be weird, but seeing a friend buy a new watch brings me joy lol.

No one's ever asked, but sure, it wouldn't bug me. I don't baby my tool watches at all (just the opposite -- if my watch isn't banged up by the time I'm on my death bed I'll consider that a failure on my part (-:), so someone holding it shouldn't be a problem. But the picture with the scratch is certainly giving me pause!

Every time someone asked me about my watches, I've always taken it off so they can try it on. No issues with sharing.
