If she prefers the traditional Lady DateJust size, the new DateJust 28 with the dark gray dial is a beautiful watch. All new introduced at Basel 2017. It's beautiful. I've seen it. It's a pefect subtle watch for everyday and beyond :)

My wife went with a more modern 31mm size - bigger than the traditional size without being gigantic. She doesn't like fluted bezels or romans or "old lady" jubilees so this is what she got and never takes off!

gotta keep it small, or she will be pissed and make we return, also she is blind as a bat and I think if I get numerals and a date I can sell it as utilitarian

You really need to focus on the size first and get the size that works best for you. I suggest a 31, but whatever you pick , pick the size first and then look only at that size.

I agree with letting her pick it out, but personally think the 31mm DJ is the perfect ladies Rolex. Modern yet still elegant and timeless.

OP,
What did you end up going with? I'm in a similar situation and looking for ideas.

We tried this on today and she decided that her perfect piece would be this watch with a stick dial in white. Unfortunately while the datejust 28 comes in a stick dial configuration, it doesn't come in white. The only other colors are silver and pink.

Btw, the salesperson told us that the fluted bezel is made of white gold while the rest if the watch is SS. Does anyone know if this is true?

I got my wife this YM a couple of years ago. I let her pick it though. I wasn’t going to risk that much money and her not liking it. I’m sure the AD would have let us exchange though. Hers is a 35mm. Good luck!

Perfect! That’s the first watch I’ve seen in a “what to get my wife?” thread that my wife would actually wear. She wears something similar, but in Omega Aqua Terra flavor.
