I also thought it would go higher, perhaps even approach 7 figures given the buzz in the room overall. I thought it was the best looking piece in the entire catalogue.

We agree, then!

Any word on this?

Someone must have just watched "The Red Violin". A very similar scenario. Swapped out the original just before the auction with a fake.

Had the 6200 on my wrist it was stunning. It was my favorite watch at the auction. It is a shame that the milsub got stolen at the preview, I was curious what that was going to hammer.

So somebody stole the watch and swapped it with a phony? I can't believe this can happen.

How did the 6200 feel on the wrist compared to more modern Subs? Did it feel much smaller and lighter? Just curious as I’ll most likely never have one on myself.

I cant either. Security was very tight when I went. Any more news on this? Very curious!

If it happened it will be buried. No auction house can have a reputation losing items. Personally I have a tough time believing it but I do not think we will ever now.

How do You break the news to the Consigner? Your 100K+ Watch was stolen BUT we have a pretty nice fake to give You as a consolation Prize....

You probably pay him a ton of money if the watch really would have dissapeared.

If the MilSub was stolen, surely, it would be pretty tricky to move it on anywhere, or even show it to anyone... I'm struggling to believe it as well.

I don't see why You couldn't just wear it? Plus there is a black market for Watches just like anything else I'm sure.Sit on it for a Year or Two and then move it privately offline,If the serial number and case back Numbers aren't plastered online the new Owner would be none the wiser.

1. Why didn't I think of that...

2. Sounds like you've got it all worked out.
