Hawaii Waikiki Beach. Tell me about it.

So guys, sitting here planning our next long-haul trip, and seems like it will be the West Coast US and perhaps Hawaii.

We’re looking at Waikiki/Honolulu as Oahu seems to be the one with most things to do. Pearl Harbor is a must for me. Hotels are also quite reasonable, so it got me thinking.... Is Waikiki the Canary Islands of the Americas??? I sure hope not.

I know Honolulu is a big city, and that’s okay, we aren’t looking for another honeymoon, we want sun, fun and some activities. Will definitely rent a car for some or all of our visit to Hawaii.

Time wise looks to be end of january/early february. Thought about spending 9 days at Waikiki.

Hawaii is (I guess) very exotic for us finns... I think I know about one or two persons who have visited.

Travelled a lot in Asia, the Caribbean, etc etc so I know what a good beach is, I’m guessing Waikiki will be quite busy...? Which is also OK as long as the water is reasonably nice.
