Having both, BLRO wins the race for me. Bought the 116718 10 years ago and the 116719 last year.

If you consider future value the BLRO will win hands down. It has the Pepsi bezel while the gold GMT shares both it's bezel and dial with the TT version. I can't knock the 116718 though. It's a stunning watch. What gold sports Rolex isn't? I would go for BLRO but if you want the LN don't let anyone change your mind. The green dial variant is also pretty cool but you must be a fan of green and not everyone is. Actually if you go for gold I would choose the green dial just because it's unique to that watch. It's kind of like buying a DD36 on an Oyster bracelet. I've never understood it. That watch needs the president bracelet.

When I purchased a WG Sub it was half way to the YG models. While I really like the WG, as soon as I replaced it with the YG Sub, it became my favorite piece.

I love both, but the warmth of YG is just too hard to beat.

Not a wrong choice! Do you want a gold watch that looks steel to most and hearkens to the origins of the GMT with the lovely Pepsi Bezel; or do you want one that screams gold Rolex in a great way especially the one with the green dial.

Had both still have BLRO, YG was a little much for me as a daily wearer not right for every situation but great as part of a collection and rotation
OTOH the BLRO is a go anywhere do anything watch if gonna be the only one that would be my choice |

I am more of a low key guy, would favor the WG, but want to see the blue/red bezel in person. Not that I'm ready to pull the trigger anytime soon...

I always thought the YG with green dial is hot and sexy, but I will go for BLRO as it is more versatile and strike a fine balance between sporty bezel pop and understated class. |

I’d go white gold GMT and yellow gold/black sub.

I think the "weak" colors work SO MUCH BETTER on the white gold. The slight yellow hue makes the colors look so much more appealing to me. The stark whiteness of the steel model really does the bezel no favors. White gold would be my choice assuming price wasn't an issue.

WG would be my choice. I tried and I've owned a TT but I just can't do any YG, maybe RG. No doubt on its beauty, but just not for me.

Like a lot of these choices, it also comes down to what’s already in the collection. I’m considering these two watches to add to my RG Royal Oak Chronograph and my SS Aquanaut.
So to make a “Trinity” I’m thinking of a YG or maybe WG piece from Rolex or VC. If I had to pick now, I’d do the YG GMT and dress it down with a RubberB or Everest strap when needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Tough choice! For me, it would depend on what else is in the collection.
But I’m sure the decision may have been made since the thread started.... November of ‘17 |

Can't go wrong with either. I chose the 116718 as it was my grail for years. Value-wise, if you're buying PM to wear expect to lose ~$5k if you need to resell. Model doesn't matter. You're also buying high right now..... my advise, forget value retention and wear the darn thing. It's what they're meant for
