David, that's a bummer! Sorry to hear that.... hope you get the call soon from your AD and they get you what you want. Good luck!

Agree. The lady just said sorry and took my credit card numbers for the refund. Didn't offer to put me on top of any list or offer me any other hot watch. I am just a small customer, who has no history with them. This is the reason I don't like majority of the dealers...

Threads like this are why Rolex going online would help.

Not everyone has an amazing AD relationship. Would go a long way to avoiding these kinds of games that dealers play.

OP, you should name the AD.

Thanks guys. I was pretty disappointed. But, I think my wife is happy that I am not getting the 3rd watch this year.

I will be a nice person and not name the AD publicly on the forum. It is a small/mid size dealer in Chicago.

Well that certainly doesn't help anyone.

Obviously it's your choice, but I don't see the point in being nice when you've been treated poorly by a business.

Not sure why protecting an AD that you have no relationship with seems reasonable.

Hi Syed

I cannot be sure if the dealer played game or actually made a careless mistake. That's why I don't want to openly name the dealer. If you or anyone PM me, I will be ok to tell you who it is.

I do agree with buying what you like. So best advice is to do just that.

I happen to have placed my preference list: white, blue then black. Most of my watches are blue and black dial as is. Aside from my white Daytona that’s really it. My AD was surprised I wanted white over blue, but hey it’s my money. So they obliged.

Since getting it a few days ago, I am still in love with the white dial. Per my wife, “it’s the chic-est of all the dial options”.

Remember the sky dweller has a very busy dial already. The white dilutes it a little and makes it a versatile piece that can be worn both casually with a leather jacket or in a suit.

Below is a pic for reference

That’s unfortunate and I’m sorry to hear it. Nonetheless, the upside is that it forces you to wait for the dial colour you know you want

Sorry the deal fell through, but at least you weren't sure it was right for you anyway.

I'm pretty sure I can guess the dealer -- the one we talked about?

Maybe a blessing in disguise? I personally love white/silver as most of my previous watches in black dial. The white SkyD complement the silver RO, both unique in dial color/shade.

Actually, it isn't. It is the one in Lincoln Park. They have 3 stores.

thanks guys. Yes, I shall wait for my first pick, Blue Dial. Just a little disappointed that I don't get to see the white dial and having the joy of "getting the call" on a super hot watch.

Sounds like it wasn't meant to be, patience is a vertue, I know it's easy to say but maybe now you'll get that call sooner.

Ugh. Having the rug pulled out under you twice (first time with the Daytona.) Not cool.

Sounds like there are shenanigans at the AD... no way a watch like this would be (or was) put on layaway - I suspect they held it back for a VIP.

I know! Bad luck with bad dealers...

For a in demand watch like stainless sky-Dweller, no way their sales didn't check that or check if there is a waiting list before contacting me. Especially the sales lady told me she saw me on the list for blue, but thought she would ask me anyway. Wouldn't she have done the same thing, checking the white dial list for people that actually put their names on, if there really is one?

Sorry to hear that, but I'd go for one of the other colors anyway. Somehow I feel that white does not suit this particular model.

Actually a blessing if it's not the color you want. I do favor the blue with the white as my second pick. I do like how the white is a clean dial.

I choose to reserve black for Subs and Pams.

I put a deposit down and going to look at it tonight and probably pick it up.

I know the white dial is not as hot as the blue or black. But are they still hard to find? I am just a little surprised that I got the call.
Hey man, congrats!! More proof that 'relationships with ads' is one of the more overrated "truisms" on this board.

Hopefully your 116610lv comes in soon too.

Well, if you did read the posts in between, OP had the rug yanked under him and was told the watch wasn't actually available.

If he had a relationship with the AD, maybe it wouldn't have happened or maybe it would have.

Unless you can afford both, I would wait and get the one you most want. Buying both seems the way to go, if you can swing it.
