Thanks again for the kind words...I'm really lovin my new watch.

I met up w/ some friends tonight...one of them being a work colleague that purchased my SubLV off me about 6 months ago. He's not really a Rolex guy, but loves watches in general. He fell in love w/ the green bezel and bought the watch since I was looking to sell after I had my eye on buying a 'standard' Sub. Anyway, he's learned more & more about Rolex through me over the last few months and has started to follow the company in more detail.

He was thrilled to check out the DSSD. He's the type that doesn't want anything larger than the 40mm Sub & prefers slimmer watches...so this watch was out for him. But he did comment on the fact that the bezel, domed crystal & most of all (for him) how he thought the new clasp were something that was worlds above his Sub. He's now thinking of 'upgrading' to the new Sub once they incorporate these design updates on a SS version. Like me, he was thrilled w/ the glide lock system and thought it was one of the best features he's seen on a watch bracelet.

The watch is definitely not for everyone, but for those w/ tastes like mine, it's definitely something to check out. Cheers.

I'm happy that you're enjoying the watch.
It will serve you well in the many years to come.
I'm also looking forward to upgrade my watches' bracelet someday when they become to lose with the new system.

What is the expression on this pup's face saying?

"Will you hurry up with that camera??!! We've been doing this picture taking thing for 45 minutes and I need to poop!"

By the way this is a great shot!!!

I see one yesterday for the first time. The watch is sure not for me. Very big and massive. The watch did not feel right on my wrist either. I rather my LV and in fact, I did not find any watch more beautiful than it in the whole AD selection. Since the perception of beauty changes from person to person, I am glad you have found something you really like.

LOL. Ironically enough, your words sum of Boz 99.9% of the time yet in this particular picture, believe it or not I dropped the watch in front on him while he was sleeping, he opened his eyes and I got the shot in about 3 seconds...then he went back to sleep immediately. That about sums up his excitement for new watches. Now, dropping dog 'treats' in front on him is a whole other story...look out when the dog biscuits come out!

More from another Deep Sea owner...

Moby33's comments pretty well sums it up. I just got mine yesterday from a seller that I'd done business with before. He was asking $8250 to give you all an idea how prices have come down (and, honestly, they will probably come down more). I'll get around to pictures in a day or two.

I agree that the silly escape valve lettering is not necessary, but in real life it's almost invisible anyway. The glide lock system is fantastic and allows for tiny changes as pointed out. I think the bracelet should have been 22 MM and not 20 MM but I'm being really picky. I did a face to face with the seller because I'd never seen the watch in person; I was assuming it would be too big or that I wouldn't like it. I was hooked from the moment I saw it. The bezel is super smooth and the ceramic is a very nice look. The seller was interested in one of my watches, so it wasn't a huge outlay. My initial impression is that it's a keeper, but time will tell!!

Congrats! I got mine today. Spent 15 minutes peeling off all the stickers. Also, had to go to the local AD and have the bracelet adjusted. I couldn't do it. Rolex loves loctite!

It is a massive watch, similar in size to my CX Swiss Military 12,000ft. That's where the similarity ends.

It sounds like you got a great deal. Even if some popular opinion is "against" that model, it is still your watch and you are the only one who has the power to decide what to wear. Even so, I like the DSSD and want to try one on pretty soon. I hope you continue to enjoy yours.

Man...and I thought I got a good deal! Fantastic buy IMO. Actually, I realize w/ every passing day I'm going to have paid 'too much' (at least for a while)...but then again, I also realize that's the cost of ownership now vs. 6-12 months down the road. I thought I could hold out for another 6 months, but when I was able to get a brand new one for hundreds under list (+ no sales tax), I just couldn't say no. I have no regrets, and ultimately I think that's the most important thing when it comes to any type of purchase. Cheers.

BTW...after 48 hours of continuous wear, the watch is running only 1.5 seconds fast! Perfect for me...I prefer a slightly fast watch...by the end of the month I'll be 30 seconds early to meetings!

Congrats, that watch is a real slugger

I'm glad it works for you

P.S. I know you secretly wanted it for the extra 904L in the case to resist the acidic contents of your pooch's saliva
