I have a 2016 Overland. Great car, no issues although I have done less than 5K mileage.

My dad has an 18 GC limited, it has the worst, most plastic interior of any vehicle anywhere near it’s price range, and has needed a new engine already. I’ve had good luck with a few other jeeps in the early 2000s, but even those we’re always in the shop for something stupid.
More than the nagging $3-400 every couple of months for a stupid repair was the impact on my life to be without my main vehicle. Bmw 5 series gets me to work reliably, and honestly does better in the snow with proper tires. |

I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland that I bought new, and have been more than happy with it (my other Jeep is a Rubicon, and I'm partial to Jeeps). It is super comfortable, it does VERY GOOD off road with some updated tires, and it has a lot of power. Only negative is the navigation and electronics system. Bluetooth connection sucks, voice command sucks, and Google does 10,000 times better with navigation.
Happy Jeeping! |

I have owned two GC and they were at best OK. Very difficult to flip out of if you are not going into another Chrysler product. I currently own a 2014 Lexus GX 460 and a 2017 Lexus LX 570. They are a different class of vehicle on every level. More expensive but in my opinion, well worth it. Great resale value also. If you do not want to tie up the funds go CPO or look at the Toyota 4Runner. For the money and in the same size class with the GC it is a much superior vehicle in my opinion. I have a friend that has one and it is dependable and fun to ride. Also, on a trade with a Toyota Tundra you will get the most money from a Toyota Dealership. Good luck.

I too am a GX460 owner. Do yourself a favor and test drive one, then pic up a CPO car. One of the last true real SUVs on the market. Body on frame, v8, legit off road credentials......and opt for the luxury pkg with air suspension and it’s a winner!

I have had two Jeep Grand Cherokee since 2008. Both were great vehicles, but I traded them before reaching 40k miles. I know they have a reputation as being unreliable later down the road, but I had zero problems with mine. I also had a very nice 2010 Wrangler Unlimited - fully outfitted and I loved that thing. Owned it for 6 years, 60k miles, and zero problems.
