No because it means I saved cash in the deal-then you can just sharpie your name over the old name.

Not a big deal for me. Rather have the savings on price than name on card.

No. Never crossed my mind. To be bugged by it seems sort of hyper-possessive. I could understand if the subject was your creation like a work of art or literature, or an invention designed and/or built by you. A watch, however, is merely merchandise, just something you bought. No matter how much you like or love it, it's still someone else's baby from the design studio through the production line until it hit whatever AD you (or someone else saw) it in. Unlike a baby, however, your like or love for it isn't going to nurture or help it grow into something else, so investing any amount of emotion into it is superficial at best.
The watch doesn't care who owned/owns it, so why should you? |

It's not the same thing. A title deed on a car denotes ownership. If ownership changes hands, a new title deed has to be issued to reflect this. A warranty card on a watch does not reflect ownership. The watch could change hands five times, and the name on the card won't change. Indeed, there is an ongoing debate on this forum about just how much having another person's name on the card even interferes with obtaining warranty service.

It would bother me momentarily, in fact it has done in the past.
However you soon get over it as if you're like me you stop looking at the boxes, put them away and start enjoying wearing it. After all, you're probably never going to need the card anyway. Savings > Name on card for me |

I have a couple of 1960s Rolex papers with owner names, and that makes them much more interesting and the watch more 'real' to me than if they were blank.

It’s kinf of interesting to have someone else’s name on the card.
Anyone ever google the name to see what you can find out about the previous owner? |

Not insane. I am the same exact way. My first Rolex, a 14060M, was pre-owned...never felt like my watch. I sold it and bought the same exact watch brand new from an AD. I felt 2o much better even though I spent so much more money. That was about 10 years ago and to this day I can not own a pre-owned watch that doesn't have my name on the papers/card. It's just a personal thing. You may get over it, but I couldn't.

It bothers me more there are some of my old watches sitting around in somebody else's house with my name on them.

And yeah, a different name doesn't bother me. It seems most Rolex warranty cards in Canada are left blank, and I have never been given grief by the RSC for a lack of name. |

Yes it does, I did it and now it shows indeed void. I was surprised.
I feel the same like the OP, I don't want another name on it, not even when buying BNIB grey.

Not in the slightest. Card is in the box stored away, why would I care, it is mine.

Once the warranty is over I would do the nail polish trick. I honestly rather have no warranty card than a warranty card with some else name. I know, call me weird.

You are not alone. This bothers me too. While I have had some great dealings with trusted sellers here, the thought in the back of my mind is always "where has this watch been", "has it been opened" etc. And I like having my name on the card and it has to be a US Jeweler on the card. I have tried to get past this, but alas I can't. Even if it means saving a lot of money, I have never been able to keep a used one or even a new one with someone elses name unless it was BRAND NEW. But that is just me. Wear yours in good health :)

As to the OP's question and then odd follow up, if it bothers you pony up and buy new. But as to your follow up of wanting a 5 digit in a trade I can't get the logic.

That's funny. Kind of cool. Did you recognize the name or discover that only after snooping?

Then, when I decided to pull the trigger and buy it from a trusted seller here, the watch arrived and the reviewers name was on the card Sent from my SM-G935W8 using Tapatalk |

My mind has been changed on the trade prior to this post. As I said I am looking to buy a 5 digit and have both. You must have missed that part. Please do not concern yourself with the details regarding my decision making and focus on the question at hand. Brought up due to pure curiosity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
