Last week I sat next to a guy on an airplane who looked like a 6Ft 5in skater dude with hand tattoos wearing a YG Yachtmaster II. Turns out he and his girlfriend (who bought him the watch) are trying to start up a solar power energy company. Nice guy.

Right now an article on "Fox News" shows Lance Armstrong wearing a Daytona. I'm not an expert on Daytonas but I think it is !

[QUOTE=Mousehunter;8325876. That said, good chance they purchased them from the department after they were acquired via civil asset forfeitures

Their life.[/QUOTE]

Not likely, cops purchase their watches the same as you and me. Most departments have rules that prohibit their employees from purchasing items that their departments seized. Further, at least on the federal side, seized items are handled by contractors, and the seizing agents and offices rarlely ever see the items again after they are processed...nor do the know where they are stored, or auctioned if the item is ultimately forfeited.

Do some research. Cops up here in NY primarily rockland, clarkstown, nassau and suffolk county make more than most lawyers and doctors, this is facts. Rolexs arent that expensive, some comments above sound snobbish

Hard working ladies and gents I can attest to that. I don’t get why so many think it strange that a police officer would wear a Rolex, I spent much less on watches than other officers did on their toys, boats, motorcycles, hunting trips. No one thinks a police officer spending 30k on a Harley is strange but 8K on a watch, well there must be something wrong with this picture. I don’t get it
Military, police, firefighters and EMS workers are all well represented here on TRF

I agree. I make a lot as a cop for the industry standard, but it's relevant to the cost of living in my area. After I pay my california mortgage, S$#t... Additionally, I work a BOAT LOAD of overtime to afford the things in life I enjoy. Most of my disposable income goes towards watches, because that's what I like. Job is irrelevant.

I know plenty of people in various non-law enforcement jobs who make the same or less who have two classic cars, or a $50K fishing pole collection, or guys who drop $20k on african hunting trips, etc (you name the hobby).

Job is irrelevant to the hobbies and toys of choice.

I am fortunate to have a 65K seat stadium in my city that host football games and many other events where I go and work pay jobs in order to fund my collection.

We drop $10K plus on our women to buy them a ring, why can't a cop drop $10k on him or herself for a nice Rolex to take pride in all of their hard work.

If I saw a janitor with a sub, several things would cross my mind. Nice taste for one. Two, maybe he wasn't always a janitor, and three, if he was, he must be disciplined to save up for something really nice that will bring him a life time of enjoyment and good for him.

I guess I'm frustrated that people think other people with certain job types shouldn't have a nice watch. I disagree. Anyone and everyone who works hard and saves should enjoy the ability to own something nice that they can cherish and take pride in and pass down to future generations.

Okay, Ill step off the soap box now.

Love you TRF

I’m retired now, but no way in hell would I have worn a Rolex to work. I’ve smashed a few G-Shocks beyond recognition fighting with some not so nice guys.

I was at the Chicago O'hare airport custom on Sunday. A custom police officer who checked my passport wears a Sub-date. I wanted to compliment his watch and show him mine (BLNR), but I did not want to cause any trouble getting through.

Wait till you get older. I’ll never forget the time I was startled by some ugly old guy in the bathroom at 4 one morning. Horrifying I tell you, horrifying.

Here in Toronto CA I was walking to work (there's a lot of that here!) and in the middle of the sidewalk with a mass of commuting-from-the-suburbs types streaming around her was a homeless lady peacefully sleeping on the sidewalk with a PM Daytona on her right wrist and a Hulk on her left. I was speechless and literally stopped in my tracks until some bumped me from behind and I had to continue on towards my building. As I continued to walk, I was told by another walker that her husband was sleeping two blocks away wearing a PM YM on his left wrist and a vintage Casio calculator watch on his right.

Go figure . . .

When I saw this thread "Cop with a Rolex" I thought I would see a post like. I saw his Rolex while he was Cuffing me ! When I was a Tampa Cop in 1971 I wore a Rolex I purchased in 1966 while in the Army. Still have it. Time changes things. I'm Old, Fat and pee myself sometimes but I still wear a Rolex. It's just a damn good watch !

I’ve worked at Lowe’s for almost 30 years and wore a Rolex, Tudor, or Panarai almost every one of the 30 years. Started many of a conversation, because the watches that I wore. You can’t base the watch on the profession. Now if I could ever get my hands on a Daytone C, I don’t think I would wear it daily...

Haha. Sure, we all have a mulligan once in a while. But when it’s time to step it up and step out, handsome and timeless for sure! (like any good timepiece) lol
