Bought the black because it was larger than the Sub and liked the way it looked on my 7.5" wrist. It was my first Rolex. Sold it less than a year later to buy the SD43 which is best of all worlds imo. (bigger case & bracelet, newest movement, collectible design)

Wish I had the funds to purchase the black as well. They are both understated excellence :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Black because that one spoke to me when I first had it in my hands in 2013. White never did it for me. But it is 100% a personal preference

Personal choice, they are both very nice, but....if I wanted black I'd buy a Sub. I'd buy a Explorer only because I could get the polar dial.

Great pic! Really shows how the hands pop against the white dial and the blue lume even in broad daylight.

Black 16570 bc it’s slightly more versatile than the polar imho and the gmt hand is less obtrusive than on the 216570.
That said I could see eventually getting an polar 16550 or pre-SL 16570...the creamy lume against the white looks good to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Black.
For me the white gold hands and lume plots add that touch if class to an already handsome watch. I also like the phantom hands, absent on the polar. |

Its my actual decision also. I love the readability of the white dial, but the gold indices and hands look very nice on the black one...

I like black and have been thinking about finding one to buy. I currently own an Explorer I 114270 and think they would make a good pair.

If we're talking the 216570 then definitely the white dial. For the 16570 my mind changes all time. I can't really decide. I think I lean towards the black dial. The 216570 white dial was my first Rolex and I love it as much now as when I bought it.

Love them both. What a fantastic reference.
Started off with white, went black and that's where I'm at currently. I'm not ruling out a white in the future, however. And watching with some curiosity at what comes out of Basel this year. |

Went to the AD to buy a white, left with the black. Has to be what you decide is right.

I went with the Polar. I have a Sub Date and wanted a watch with a white dial. It’s a great watch and looks good with either dial.

Having been a Breitling fan for many years, I recently purchased a new 216570 Polar, my first ever Rolex. I love both the black & the polar versions. I bought the Polar because I have more watches with black dials. If I wanted to own both I could but I wouldn't buy a black version for exactly the reason stated above. I think both have their merits.

I’ve had both polar versions. I traded the old red-hand version for the newer. It’s my go-to favorite, and I have a variety of Rolexes and others.. this one is just all around versatile, rugged, just awesome. here are some pics to show you options.

polar, was my second Rolex, just thought how easy it was to read, sounds weird but its a "cool" looking watch in the summer, knowing i'd be adding some darker faced/dialed watches gives variety.

If it is a II I think the black is highly underappreciated.
