I just got my Daytona and picked a couple older GMTs (16710 Swiss only dial from 1999 and 16750 from ‘83) and IMO they’re going to do nothing but go up in value. I’d say hang on to it and start saving. I think the hype on the new one may wane after a while. I’m wrong all the time, but.......

Got my black dial 116520 8-10 weeks ago, a classic in my book and one I've been wanting for years.

As pointed out, they aren't making them anymore, and I've already seen prices rising for these references....personally I wouldn't.
