I would go find the best deal possible on the Daytona and make the purchase. It is a great watch and the supply and demand situation will not level out for some time. Many times I think we get bogged down on the cost value ratio of a watch. It is important but in the end it is really about the watch and the value you feel by wearing it. It is a grail and if you wear it for ten years what does it actually cost beyond msrp. Take the 6-8K over retail, divide by 10 and that is what it costs you. Just do it, wear it and enjoy it. We can hear back from you in ten years about how great the watch is.

It's not flashy! Ok, I know I compare it to the WG Oysterflex that really shines like a star but you can easily wear the 116500 with no big concerns. I wear it all the week at the office and during week-ends the WG Daytona takes the role of exciting my eyes.

Wait for MSRP and enjoy your hold grail. Don’t worry about what attention it may or may not bring. Unless you’re a watch person, most people don’t know/care. Get on lists or find the right deal online.
