The one of the reasons the SS watches are so sought after is because you can't get them.

Come on, we surely know demand on populars has tripled and maybe more in the last year, wait lists for the PepC are at a 50 average in big cities as an example, so whether Rolex increase or decrease supply by 10-20% makes no difference.
Rolex are the knife in this machine-gun fight. |

The only letter they want from us is - How to stop the Flippers and get watches to true buyers like the more established members of this forum.

I think it would be more effective if people would just continue to bitch about it on TRF. That's the real difference maker.

Considering that Rolex is probably the least consumer friendly watch company on the planet, I doubt a letter would accomplish anything.

doesn't matter the outcome or what they do, in the end, it's a Rolex and all of you will continue to buy one and own it :)
Let's admit it..they can do no wrong. Even with all the recent changes, we will continue to own a Rolex watch. |

they have diverted all dedicated forum readers to production since some AD said they are now working 24/7 to increase production. They have left TRF unmonitored and will have no idea what we want them to make next.

Let’s all write a letter.
We’d all just be better served starting our own AD in a desirable location that moves lots of inventory...then there would be plenty of watches to go around....🤣 LOL

Alternatively you could come to the UK. We are at stage 2 or 3 of the shortage/increased demand cycle and its just catching up to the US now. Its been insane here for a while now

he is saying get AD watches to true buyers and stop flippers from getting watches first. People who have zero intention of keeping a watch are not true buyers, correct.

I hope they'd blacklist everyone sending in a letter and stop them buying a Rolex at any point in the future.
This happens with AP dealers. This happens with Patek dealers. This happens with other high end products (from handbags to super cars). People need to get over themselves a little and stop moaning just because they can't have what they want, when they want it. It's becoming rather tiresome. And yes, I could just stop reading threads like this, but I can't help myself!! And all this talk of Rolex throttling supply of sports models to increase demand. This may be true, but we don't know this. It might be that there is more money to be made from selling PM DJ's in some markets than there is from selling sports models, so perhaps they are just prioritising production capacity to maximise profits, which would be more than reasonable! How do you *know* the shortage is due to a sharp increase in demand, and not a sharp decrease in supply? |

Grey dealers have about the same amount of watches as normal (maybe more in fact). The prices are way higher. Both indicate a demand side increase.

It should be a letter thanking Rolex for cleaning up the market for its watches.
As soon as early last year, Rolex was far too available and having new watches with stickers on the street for thousands below retail was ridiculous. All of that is terrible for the brand. Recognizing that they don't want to become Breitling, Rolex instituted firm but fair distribution of the SS Sport line. In reaction to this limitation, different dealers are handling this in ways they see fit to accommodate their customer base. Some dealers have plenty of stable existing business and don't need or care for new business that only wants the "hawt" stuff. Other dealers are open to new customers and will get them the product in a reasonable period of time....or require them to buy a certain amount to be eligible to buy limited pieces. Thanks Rolex! |

If all of the forum readers are now in production, I wonder who will read all of the letters from the barrage of "let's write a letter" submissions? I'm guessing it'll fall on the custodian. |

I think any company would love the fact we all talk with each other, then sell the products to each other. Whip up the need to buy a certain model at a dealer and put our names down to get one soon. Even some give the dealer a present when they get their watch as a thank you...mmm don't think a letter would do it some how ?

It has been mooted here on more than one occasion that it's 'rogue' AD's that supply the grey market. Let's face it, it's not...rocket surgery,....or magic. How long does one have to keep one's Rolex to be considered a "true buyer", and by whom exactly? --------------------------------------------------------------- If I buy a used Mercedes am I considered to be not a true buyer? If I buy a new Mercedes and sell before some arbitrary period has passed, am I considered flipper? Would I, or anyone else care? I think not. I get my my money, and someone gets a car. Simple. It's the market. As a wiser man than me once said, "Put up, or shut up". Go ahead, write your letter, in your heart you'll know, it's a wasted stamp. |
