My duo is a GMT2 Pepsi (16710) and a Speedmaster co-axial (44.25mm). I have 7 3/4” wrists so the huge Speedy works for me. I consider the Speedmaster to be the ultimate chronograph. I’m not a collector so two watches makes an ideal rotation for me. Anything I have is for daily wear.

But then you go on to put forth two options that would keep your money tied up in watches: buying an Explorer or a Reverso. Thus, it seems to me your motivation for selling the GMT is not to have more cash on hand, but because you don't like the GMT. Which is fine, too. But its good to be clear about the motivations in order to decide what you want to do. If you don't like the GMT, sell it for as much as you can get. Set a high-ish price and then wait for the right buyer. Then buy what you want. If I misread you and it is about having more cash on hand, what will you do with the increased cash? If you will keep it in a savings account, then I might suggest the GMT COULD BE a better financial instrument than cash--likely won't decrease in value and could increase. If you will invest the extra cash in short-term equities, the uncertain market may not bring the returns you want. If you will invest the money in long-term equities (like an SP500 fund that will grow on average 9% annually over time), then that will likely garner you a more certain return than the GMT. |

I like the GMT but not as much as the Sub. And not sure if I'd like the Exlorer/Reverso combo more than the GMT but I do know it's more diverse for my collection whereas currently everything I own has a bezel. #FirstWorldProblems |

How is it a downgrade? I have both and I don't feel any less wearing my Explorer.

I think you will regret this later. Your GMT looks awesome.

There's no doubt that you will deeply regret selling your GMT Master. Especially since it's the last GMT (and not a GMT II). It will only gain value.

I would not let the Pepsi go for a 36mm Explorer...I probably wouldn't let it go for a 39mm Explorer which I own and enjoy. If anything just add the Explorer and see if you actually bond with it and the size and then visit letting the Pepsi go later if at all.

I am thinking of going in the opposite direction. Trading my polar white (16570) for GMT II Ceramic. Then at some point in the future add a white dial Milgauss.
In the mean time, I keep looking for a reasonably priced the z-blue Milgauss. |

I would never, IMO the Pepsi 16710 is one of the most timeless watches Rolex has ever made while the Explorer is... an Explorer.

I think we all love a Pepsi, some more, some less. If you can swing it, get the Exp it's a gem in the Rolex line up, I my opinion. And if you find yourself never wearing the Pepsi again, then it's time to sell. You'll not loosing any money by holding on...

The Explorer is a great watch. If that’s what you want sell the GMT and get one. You might wait a year though or two. Humans are a pretty dumb species in general and I’m fairly certain the five digit inflation will continue to prove that to a greater extent. Soon you'll be able to biy two Rolex for the sale of a watch you’re not all that crazy about.

Get as much $$ for the Pepsi to fund your other choices and remaining $$ is all gravy for other stuff.
I'm shocked how much value increased $$$ the coke/pepsi have gone in past 8 years.
