A white dial Explorer II would make a good addition. The Explorer II will give you a different dial, size, complication, touch of color, brushed center links, date. A green dial Submariner Date would also accomplish this.

OP here,
I like a lot of the suggestions so far: Explorer II Polar Patek 5711 116610LN Oyster Perpetual 116500 White Except for the sub, I’ve never actually handled any of these other watches, so I’ll be doing that. I don’t think I have a price range necessarily. I’d say probably under $15k? But could be stretched to $25-30k if I really fall in love |

Many great suggestions, I like the white OP for something simple and easy to get, and the 5167 for something simple but more refined but hard to get. Take your choice.

I thought most suggestions would be for this so surprised by how up-market this forum wanted to take our poor OP, well not that surprised.

Congrats on the Daytona. Sub 114060 or Exp II 216750 Polar would be a nice addition.

The Explorer 214270 would probably fit the bill.

White Ceramic Daytona.... Don't get anything cheaper than your current watch....Once you're up there..don't go back down. :)

Guys, just an update. I went to my Rolex AD today and tried on a few watches I had mentioned.
-Explorer II Polar I was kinda leaning towards the Explorer II Polar because on paper it’s the most “opposite” to my current black Daytona, but it just didn’t speak to me. I guess I like understated but not so toolish. -Oyster Perpetual 39They didn’t have a OP in white dial, but did see it in blue and Rhodium. I was kinda left with MinMay’s comments of “don’t go too much cheaper than your current watch, once you go up, don’t go back down”. No offense to anyone who owns this watch, but it did feel like it’d be somewhat of a downgrade. Dunno if I’d wear it a lot. -White 116500 Daytona. I didn’t expect they’d have one, and they didn’t. But I don’t think I’d want two of the same watch in such a small collection. Maybe if I have 5+ watches it’d be different, but I don’t. -116610LN I ended up really liking this watch. I was worried that it’d be way too similar to the Daytona, but it’s different enough. Would kinda give me the sub/speedy combo everyone gets but with a Daytona which I prefer. -Cellini Time I have a feeling I’m gonna get some flack for this. Like, buy a JLC or Patek, too expensive, but I REALLY liked this watch in person. Need to do more research. AD said we’d be able to talk about 15-20% off MSRP as well. Sooo... I walked in expecting to really like the Explorer II and walked out with a Cellini time which pulled at my heart strings and also liking the Submariner. Any input? I’m consider one, or both. |
