80's style suits are making a comeback too. Was ordering some new suits and found a bunch of double breasted big lapel models out there. Will not bother me, always liked that style with braces. But I like YG too...

Was in Mayfair today and saw a lot of money on display, Goyard bags, LV trainers etc, but mostly SS Rolexes, still don't think watches are that important to most people even the affluent ones, not above fashion items.

Bought my 1st 2-tone after having 10+ straight SS models, was a throw back to an era that I grew up in (1990s) - love the look.

Return of the two tone and full yellow gold
Yellow gold is generally not been my thing.
This is the wife’s. But after trying it on recently,I may have to rethink my position. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I think YG is making a little bit of a comeback. I’ve been more interested in recent years.

TT is definitely getting more popular. I don’t think the TT CHNR is an anomaly. Personally they never fell out of style for me. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s with my family in the car business. In that era, the TT datejust ruled the roost. It seemed like everybody had one, although poorly executed fakes plagued the era too.

They never went away in the first place. You’re seeing more because there are just more watches out there!

I see a lot about TT coming back but I don't think it ever left. I see quite a few TT Subs and GMT's as well as a lot of old school DJ's on the jubilee bracelet. I think we have got to have something to talk about and drive fashion.

This forum is really the only place TT is shunned to the degree it is. I agree with William...in the real world, it's never really left.

Yes but I can’t understand why the T/T Daytona seems to get knocked all the time. This is my second T/T Daytona in two years I thought the first one was what I wanted but passing a Rolex AD in my city I saw the T/T Daytona with the White MOP 8 Diamonds Dial & knew immediately that was the one for me so I picked it up last month. I never really rated Diamonds on a Watch till I saw this one. I also have the T/T Sub 116613LB & that Watch seems to be more acceptable as far as T/T Watches go but I am loving this Daytona 116503 I think it’s beautiful. I could have got the S/S Daytona Ceramic for what i paid for the T/T but even with all the hype that Watch does absolutely nothing for me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Return of the two tone and full yellow gold
After going SS crazy the last few years I came back around to TT and it’s hard to put on my SS pieces now.

I'm a TT fan . . . I just love the contrast of the gold against stainless steel. Add blue and you have perfection.

I feel rolex TT watches and some YG pieces were designed to be flashy even compared to other full WG or RG watches. However that’s why they pop and if you have the personality to pull it off it’s great.
I like understated so I gravitate towards full WG or RG rolexes. I would get WG even if it looks exactly same as SS rather than TT but that’s because who I am. I can totally see millennials loving TT and I think it suits them well. Young people are vibrant and the extra pop works great. :) If I were younger I would dig that too. I’m now entering middle ages and since money is not an issue anymore I love full WG or RG. :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm not sold on rose gold, I have TT watch and it's yellow gold. I don't think rose would go so well with my other yellow jewellery so I would be put off buying the new rose TT.

RG is very very popular now. Patek/AP and most major brands that I see push more RG than YG actually. |

I wear an 18038 as my daily. Stainless just doesn’t feel right any more.

In my case, it never left. I bought my first Rolex in the late 80's when I was in my late 30's. I bought a new 16233 because I couldn't afford the all gold (which was in the $5500 range in those days?). I own it to this day. Matter of fact, I've been wearing it the last couple days after a bit of an absence and I'm reminded just how gorgeous this watch is. Mine has the silver stick dial. It's had one service since new, the case and bracelet look new (until you get to the loupe...), and it runs within 3 seconds a day (actually, a little better).
So I was a younger man when I bought it new, I'm an older man now who gets the same joy as he did nearly 30 years ago. |

We are in a state where TT is cheaper than full SS due to either scarcity or scalpers

I wasn’t a TT guy before but the new CHNR GMT converted me. Also, I actually kind of feel a bit more sane about spending that kind of money on a watch when I see the gold on my wrist and not all SS. Something I didn’t expect.

Long, long past are the days when I would walk into a room and was concerned what impression I made or hoping people would like me.
Now when I walk into a room, I wonder if I'll like any of the people in the room...love the TT Submariner Bluesy, love my SS Daytona, would get a TT Daytona (think white dial in TT would be fantastic) in a heartbeat, and give no more F's what people think, my field is barren of them now :-)....you'll never please everyone, so at least please yourself. |
