I feel this is at least partially Rolex’s doing as they become more and more an exclusive jewelry company and move further away from their roots as primarily a high quality tool watch manufacturer.

Nice repost.

So, you don't like vowels. I bet you don't like queueing either.
Apologies for starting a sentence with a preposition. It's the fashion these
days, you'll have noticed.

That word scares me to death; worse than a semicolon! I am so lucky to be an American, where we stand on a four letter word.

I know what I think are most all reference numbers of the late models, save all platinum references. Do not know know any of those

Honestly, I think less than 1% of AD’s know the model number.

I've mentioned this earlier. Batman doesn't work for me and only one which works is Hulk among the new references. Batman is forced. From old Pepsi/Coke works. So, only 3 for me.

The real watch enthusiasts are the OMEGA owners who memorize the 30 digit references with decimal points and all.

They’re easier to remember than omega reference numbers.

When I first got mine last year, I was obsessed with everything about it. Today, all I care about is whether it's running. The first few scratches on the acrylic crystal bothered me for days. Now, they are part of the watch and it's life with me.

For the record, I do know the reference. It's a 15003. It's my every day watch. It's gotten dirty, wet, and banged into door jambs. Dogs have licked it. I have spilled stuff on it.

All that matters at the end of the day is it does what Rolex says it will do. It's 35 years old. I'm 48 years old. It will outlive me.

I make up my model numbers

My first Rolex is model number 1.
My second is A.
My third is Tudor-1.
My 4th will be 4.

Simple, no?

Again, I don’t care. But it weird how some sorta bug me, and some I love.

I never did call the black and blue GMT 2 "batman" .. I've always called it the "bruiser" but there is a good reason for my doing so

I have limited brain cells remaining. I think I recognize it for the Sub. I know the Bluesy ends in LB. I don’t memorize things that I can look up.

Which way does the Winding crown have to be turned to make the hands of a 'real Rolex" go in the clockwise direction.

They have a Sub, or a GMT, perhaps a Daytona.

They what metal it is, and the colour of the bezel.

Not much more is needed.

I bet they remember how much they paid for it. If the reference was the price then sorted. Maybe that's the plan, and why Rolex moved to 6 digit references...
