This seems like a pretty big plus to me. And if in the end you decide you don't like the watch, you can likely sell it at no loss (probably for a profit). A near-new recently serviced oysterquartz won't be hard to get rid of.

Alright. I decided not to get it fixed and bought myself a 2014 DJ 2 with white Roman dial, which looks similar to the OQ. I love the idea of being able to fix this watch as long as I live, shall I ever need to.

I will sell the OQ broken as it is.

I wish I could post a picture, but I am 5 posts short of being allowed to do that! :)
