I wouldn't do it tbh.
Also, watches are meant to be worn not to be put in a safe!

The SD is an annual calendar (very useful feauture, more than chrono), I would love to have a SD.

A pair of Daytonas seems odd. The SkyD is awesome. The white Daytona is awesome. The black face just doesn't appeal, to me anyway, and is much harder to read, particularly if you are timing something. I doubt the SkyD is going down in value anytime soon, unless you paid way over MSRP.

You have the James Cameron Sea Dweller, yet the Sky Dweller is too big for you?
Personally, don't worry about residual value if you are planning on handing down your collection. Who knows what any of these watches will be worth in 20 years, as several have said before. I got my dad's watch last year, and it was well worn and beat to hell, and I love it more than anything else that I got from him because I remember it being something he loved and wore every day for almost 40 years. So, wear what you love and hopefully (no guarantees) he will love it 20+ years from now. I have a 1 year old son that I plan to pass my (meager) watch collection down to, but I have no expectation of him caring as much about it as I do. Personally, I would keep the Sky Dweller, as I think it's an awesome watch and would kill to have it, but my budget does not allow it... And I think having two Daytonas is redundant. Plus, I see no use for chronographs, so there you go... |
