If you own a Submariner and sell it, your future watch is likely to be a Submariner

There is a reason why it is probably the best GADA watch ever made. The GMT and Daytona are nice but nothing blends into any situation like the Sub.

Best and Top Classic Sports Rolex All Around ?

The reason I picked it over the Sub is because it has the same presence on the wrist but at a more comfortable weight. And I like the bezel color. However, with that said. When I decided to buy a second Rolex for my 50th birthday, there was no doubt when I went into the AD (all those stainless sports watches were readily available in those day) that I'd pick the GMT II with the Superman bezel. And then I tried on a Sub and that's what I bought. MY GMT came a few years later and I now wear it far more than I do my Sub. Had I bought the GMT first, I'm sure I would have bought a Sub down the road.

Superman? Makes sense to me, especially if it’s often going up against the Batman GMT for comparison. LOL!

Since the Sub and Sea Dweller are so closely related, I'd have to go with the Sea Dweller 50th at the top

It's not a debate. It's the Submariner.

We all have our personal tastes but nothing screams Sports Rolex like a Submariner. It is the icon and in my opinion Rolex' best piece.

Before I even clicked on this thread I knew it was going to be a Sub fanboy who created it because anytime someone begins talking about the illusionary notion there's some sort of "Best" or "Most iconic" pecking order for Rolex watch models there's a 95% chance that person is one who chose a Sub and is seeking validation by calling out to members of the same herd to agree.

Why? Who knows, but there's psychology at work that could probably be studied matching watch model choices with personality types. In any case, it's an amusing TRF phenomenon. People must really walk around thinking "Oh, yay for me and my choice. I went into an AD, plunked down my money, and chose a Sub which I feel is the most iconic Rolex. The BEST. Now, I must try and tell others all about it".

Reality: There is no pecking order. There is no "best" or "top classic". But it is fun to watch the herd gather and bleat on about the illusion whenever it's raised. Replace the refrain "Mine. Mine. Mine" with "Sub. Sub. Sub" and the responses from the TRF Sub Mafia remind me of the flock of seagulls in Finding Nemo.
