I don’t think people will care or possibly not even notice, however it’s onviously concerning you so leave it a day or two and then reassess.

Totally agree. They hired you for your skills, and what you bring to the company. Be TRUE to yourself, and wear the Submariner.

At least that is my advice. Congratulations on the new job and good luck!

Just be you. You have your own personality, style and individuality.

Live for yourself not what others may or may not think of you. Let your work ethic, knowledge and productivity be what others judge you by. IMHO

I say go halfway, wear it but on your ankle. Then slowly move it up to your arms if the coast is clear.

FIRST: Congrat´s on both achievements. Working hard to earn your money to buy the watch. Second on getting the job.

SECOND: Do recon first.

Delaying the unveiling of your watch in front of your co-workers won´t affect your health in any way. You will quickly learn what goes. It is so easy to step on toes, without realizing you are stepping on toes.

LAST:
If you decide to leave your watch behind, make sure it´s in a safe place, or take it with you and leave it in a locker.

Keep working hard. Become the invaluable asset your company needs.

this is a good question.....id say its 50/50, entry level is almost too soon. As you get more experience and move around its not a problem at all. But since it is a Sub id say its ok why not....

I would wear an Apple Watch or a cheaper watch up front. Once winter gets here and the long sleeves come out and you can slide it under most of the time I would start to wear it.

Go for it. I wore my Rolex at my first job out of college. I don't think anybody noticed, and if they did, I don't think they cared.

The Apple Watch or smartwatch of your choice works better IMHO. Not just because the VP has one, but for the reason you can keep your phone pocketed and still keep track of appointments, reminders and texts.

Good luck on your first day!

Wear it!!! I remember when I bought my first Rolex which was a Sub, I did not care much about impressions as the truth is that only you know the hard work and sacrifice you put in at work to acquire that watch. The truth is that there will be a percentage of people that will think its fake, another percentage of people that will believe that it was passed down to you(aka hand outs and easy life according to them), a percentage of folks that will believe that you are a hard working individual and then the rest will probably think its an Invicta Pro Diver hahah.

Wear it, no shame in having an expensive watch, you can have saved for years to buy it, or it can be a gift or whatever.
congrats on the job btw

Generally I don't tiptoe around other people's feelings. but when you are the new guy (and the youngest guy) at a company, you're vulnerable. The people you may make jealous are also people with the power to cause you pain. Take care not to put a target on your back

So long as you have somewhere safe to leave it, I say don't wear it.

It's unfortunate but if (and it's just an if) someone who has any relevance to your job / progression notices it and (so we are now at "if" + "and", probability is getting lower) for some sad reason it rubs them the wrong way then that's an issue.

While I think it's unlikely to create an issue I'd still side with the advice above to leave it at home until you have a better sense of the environment.

Good luck!

Wear the watch. Wearing a Rolex is not pretentious. You have a professional position. Go for it.

NYC is all about presentation, yeah, I'd wear a damn Rolex to work without question. It's much like Silicon Valley. It's common to see wear smashing watches. Engineer's especially. It's the appreciation for watches (engineering) here whereas in NYC, it's all about perception. And I've resided in both places...

Yep that article is garbage...

Wall street is facing a recession at the moment. Funny...perception and reality.

I think a lot of people care about a $9000 Rolex, regardless of model or material. Most people would call that an absurd amount to spend on a watch, especially for a kid (relatively speaking)
