Where's the guy who paid DSW 20K+ to buy one? Cheaper than WG? Haha! Not by much if you're buying from a grey or reseller. In the 1800's people had "Gold Fever". Now in 2018 in the Rolex world it's "Stainless Steel Fever"

Simple its the price - much much more affordable if you can get one at MSRP.

Buying at premium as I've said numerous times why would you? You could have bought one years ago in WG for pretty much the same price. Thats just plain stupid.

In 2013 when the 116719 was released people were furious that it was released in WG and not SS. There were so many threads and posts of people slamming Rolex because they did that and put it out of the reach of many. So of course people started putting it down and complaining about the colors. I can promise you had they released it in SS 5 years ago there’d be no complaints about colors. So here we are today...The fact is the 126710 is a hot watch and very hard to get from an AD thus crazy premiums. That combo tends to bring about the same types of responses as usual. So for those that were here back then you remember and if not go back and look. Many of us loved the 116719 from day one and are over the moon with the new release in SS. My guess is that every single BLNR owner, which I am as well, would never turn down the offer if your AD called and said, “I have a 126710 for you are you in?”

Also Dr. Tom my friend the jubilee is amazing as you know and really makes the watch special. It reminds me of my old 16750 which came on a jubilee.

The colors are reminiscent of the original 6542 Bakelite IMHO. So I think Rolex knows what they are doing as they’ve been doing it for a wee bit of time now successfully and better than most.

NOW praised and acceptable?

The very first Pepsi in the old laquer bezel was amazing

After that- the pepsi steel bezels.....amazing....and sold at premiums 10-15 years ago

Then- when the ceramic came in WG everyone was disappointed because it was WG

Now- Rolex gave us what we wanted the SS Pepsi and its simply amazing again.....

The pedigree of the pepsi has been a gem since the beginning

What we are seeing is a pent up vaccuum of years of demand coming in on this anticipated model. Its going to be a hit from now to well next generations i would bet

I entertained buying the 116719 many times. I was put off but the wear and tear that gold shows and I’m not fond of pcls on oysters. I always liked the look of the jubilee on the blnr.

Some who criticize the colors are basing the interpretation off photos online. I find they look far better in person.

Why is the GMTII ceramic Pepsi bezel now a hit?!?

People love to hate what they can’t have!
From the beginning of the release of the Pepsi fans all over the world knew this will be one of the, if not the hardest Rolexes ever to get. So in a subliminal way, somehow they try to down play the hype in order to have it available at ease at any AD. People used the cyclops issue against the SD43 as well, which didn’t work one bit and the watch is still hard to find and sitting on a premium. Same thing was done again with the jubilee bracelet and the colours of the bezel, which were identical to the BLRO White Gold model, but they deliberately choose to separate the two. There is nothing wrong with any of these pieces in my opinion. Anyone who has criticized them is covertly in love with them and hoping that their criticism will take the hype off and reduce the grey market prices.

Again this is my personal read on this subject. Not an implication of what everyone is feeling.

Tom, didn't know you grabbed an SD 43! How you liking it? - I love mine! Wish you would have slid your first BLRO SS chance my way.. :)

Congrats on the BLRO!

Exactly, many people have this way of not justifying expensive items, they are negative and try to find anything wrong with them. Since it is way cheaper at the dealer level, now everyone has a woody for it. People are funny.

It was beautiful in WG. It is beautiful in SS. Popular model offered in SS and With jubilee. Excitement is justified.

While there's great support for the new ceramic blro....I still think the ceramic insert isn't as nice as older iterations...but it's a matter of taste. The new one is a hit because it's 1) stainless aka supply game and 2) it's the new flavor of the year....also I believe most people including myself like the oyster bracelet over the jubilee for sports models. I guess this is why I haven't been pushing my ADs for one since it's a cool if I get it and meh if I don't kind of watch to me. To each their own.

I saw one in person at a grey dealer. I can't get on with the bezel colours. The main appeal in a Pepsi GMT for me was the way it would fade over a few decades.

If the colours are going to stay the same forever, I think the BLNR is a better bet IMO.

I watch an interview with pro golfer Joran Spieth he was wearing a BLRO. For my tasted the colors were just to much bling. Or it could be the larger bezel made to to much bling.

or it could

I'm sure this has happened, just when they have tried the watch on will they know that it's far too light to be SS, but a lot of hassle if it was shipped.

These photos were taken by NimbleNavigator, and shows the color difference of the 126710 and 16710.

no one is debating thats how the colors photograph. It doesnt look like that so its not representative of anything

Its ironic that certain photos are chosen to support a preconceived conclusion when there are plenty of photos out there that look considerably different, but that doesnt fit the narrative i guess.

Indirect light

Harsh sunlight

Light coming through a window (scattered light)

Natural light

I agree, the overall look of most of the SS professional watches is pretty dang similar. I've told my Wife several times that my next watch will have almost anything except a black dial!

I beg to differ. The blue has a purplish hue, and the red has a pinkish hue. Different lighting conditions (indoor vs. outdoor) yields different results. YMMV.

Good reference photos - thank you for sharing. In my opinion, the ceramic bezel looks a bit purplish in direct sunlight. It’s a fantastic timepiece, and I hope you wear yours in good health! YMMV.
