Up to 10% is possible in London but I'd hide any foreign accent, so watch as many Hugh Grant films as you can, esp Florence Foster Jenkins in which he is surprisingly good.

Why not try to buy them in Thailand? You will have more success at a local AD and building a long term relationship

The price in UK after tax deduction is almost 30% cheaper. Then I think it is worth to try buying there

If you buy a precious metal watch at full retail, you “might” have a chance to source one of the ones you want but that is an expensive proposition for sure.

You are wasting your time. London’s a great city with plenty to do, enjoy your time there instead of wasting your time trying to get a watch you have no chance of getting

That's what everyone thought in 2016, you are very very late to the show.

thats exactly what i was fishing for you to answer... everyone in the world tries this so you are not the first one to realize it. Trying to buy a hot model at what amounts to fire sale prices.

I don''t even bother to go into any Rolex AD when visiting London ( or for that matter, any major cities nowadays ) because I know the answers will be predictable and they only display datejust.

Your best bet would be to ‘phone a provincial AD first then if successful be prepared to travel 40/50 miles plus.
It worked for me two years ago for a SubC with date.

When emailing the ADs did you send the full list of the watches you wanted?

thats going to backfire big time. Its a flippers shopping list. Maybe if you ask about 1 they might take you seriously (but i still doubt it) but giving them that shopping list, not a chance.

I sent them the list base on my preferences. I did not think about your point. It is a good point indeed

you have got to probably commit to one and make it the easiest one to get (sub). Otherwise you are basically saying "i want to buy all watches i can flip for a profit whichever one you have"

Even they prioritize locals and repeat customers. It's a sellers market.

I work in central London and they dismissed me as I fulfilled neither of the above.

I visited ADs outside of London and they said the same.

I'll be amazed if you get one. It would need to be at an AD that doesn't abide to the above policy, doesn't operate wait lists and has just had a delivery.

You can get a yachtmaster ii or an explorer ii pretty easily.. I’d say that’s your only chance for a sports model unfortunately

Exactly.

As unfortunate as it is, it's the truth.

I`ve visted a handful of AD`s outside London and asked for a sub and its becoming a pretty demoralising experience. Thought buying my first rolex would be fun....not at the moment..

You’ll have fun buying a Datejust, every colour and variation under the sun.
Walk in and show interest in one and you’ll be treated like royalty. Offer you a drink and let you try them on.

Walk in asking for a steel sub and their eyes will roll as they’ve already got a list as long as your arm, none in stock, and get asked twenty times a day
