Sure, it has a great everday complication, only weakness is that if you are a basher then a ceramic would be a better choice.

Most Rolex references would qualify as daily wearers IMO.

Was my daily for about a year, works great and can handle fun active sports.... to suit mandatory meetings.

Wear what makes you happy. My grandfather wore his YG Calatrava every day - even if it was with a sweatsuit around the house.

It's a pretty clean annual calendar watch which also includes a GMT function , made by Rolex, at an attractive price point (in steel). In terms of function it really has everything you'd need

Let’s face it, any Rolex could be your one and only watch. As long as you purchased the right model that fits your lifestyle. The Skydweller with its calendar complications seems like it was designed to be a daily watch.

The Datejust is a great watch and the most iconic Rolex look. With a complexed calendar complication in a iconic package makes it a standout.

Sure it can be a one and only. Sporty but dressy too. Nice mix of features. It is large though. I would think size of the person would have some value on this. A bigger person can pull the SkyD off as a daily.

With an annual calendar and a GMT function ? It's in a league of its own. The most innovative Rolex.
SkyD could be my one and only easy

I love the DJ and have used one as my daily beater for 6 years. The Sky-Dweller is more or less just a highly advanced watch in a DJ body, so I would say absolutely.

This is the direction I'm heading. But will likely keep the SD43.

So the reason I ask.....
After being a young guy who destroyed Seikos on a regular basis, I finally bought a Two Tone GMT black dial in 1982, for a sturdy, do it all watch. (yes, as a young person I bought a TT, didn't know it would be only for old guys). I wore that watch exclusively until 2004.
Since then, I have owned literally hundreds of watches on a buy them, wear them in rotation, and always be flipping something to buy something else basis. Besides being financial lunacy, I haven't found that it makes me happier to keep flipping watches then it did when I had one trusted watch that I relied on every day. Having said that, it might have to be three, since I do keep a cheap Isobrite for night time viewing with the Tritium Tubes, and there is a very strong appeal to owning a diver, which is most often the primary watch I've worn, in recent years that being the TT Blue Sub. So I'm thinking of one do it all watch. I don't dive, but I do go in salt water from time to time (sometimes even intentionally). I do like to be able to see the time in the dark. And it seems that I'm in different time zones on a pretty regular basis. I don't live in shorts and I never wear a T-shirt because I'm now an old guy and I like a collared shirt, even with shorts (unless I'm running). Just love the blue dialed Sub, the no cyclops Sea Dweller, and even the new Sea Dweller 43, but my eye keeps coming back to a white dialed Sky Dweller. Thought the President 36mm would be the one, thanks to my fascination with Red Adair, but I just don't seem to adjust to the smaller dial, plus the lume is long gone original tritium. And I don't want to wear any more 44mm plus watches. My Panerai, Omega POC and so on days are over. But so are my eyes, so a larger, legible dial seems like a good idea. So that's the explanation, and a Patek Nautilus is out of my price range since I wasted so much money over the years flipping watches :-) Of course the odds of me giving up the flipping addiction are small, but it's a thought :-) |

I agree it could easily be an only watch. It pretty much depends upon what your need is for a watch. If you aren't a scuba diver or someone who knocks theirs around a lot then it would be perfect.

Any ss rolex is for everyday use. Why not? Does not matter what you wear...I would wait for the Daytona, though..
