Also, this thread started because the OP's AD ordered the model. OP said he "bought" it, implying he put money down on it. ADs typically won't accept money for models they can't order.

More info is needed.

My AD here in the UK is unable to order it from Rolex, maybe the OP has ordered from a store that is part of a group and they have stock in other stores. You are correct in that we need more info!

This article carries as much weight as every second thread predicting an impending Rolex price increase.

The AD has ordered the watch. The watch is still available on the Rolex website.

If it does get discontinued, well I guess lucky me? Makes no difference to me.

For what its worth and I know I'm gonna catch a heap of **** on here but the same person who told me the white gold black dial had been discontinued long before Basel and that I posted here and got abused for weeks just told me the white gold blue dial GMTII has been officially discontinued .

Flame away

By the way, congrats on a stunning watch. Sorry for highjacking your thread.

or they could have discontinued it since its the same reference number as the old one, actually put the new movement into it, given it a new reference number and are shipping them late or putting it on hold.

IMO there has to be an explanation for a basel release to be discontinued after probably only a few shipped. Or people are mixing up the blue and the black dials and what is discontinued and what isnt since they have the same number.

cant just be gone, can it?

LOL, it's not discontinued, makes no sense and besides it's not the point of this thread. Early Congrats Craig on a stunning watch.

How do you know? I'm skeptical, but the reality is I don't know one way or the other. Johnny's source got it right the last time, so that carries some weight.

Good point, it is not the subject of this thread.

However, it is from the same source. He was right the first time and my money is he is right this time. His info comes direct from RUSA.

I'll start a separate thread.

Enjoy the watch Craig.

Congratulations to you! Unless I'm mistaken, didn't you already aquire one of these earlier in the spring?

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=596869

I know that one was pre-owned, so maybe you returned or traded it and decided to go for a new one (?). I tend to remember the Canadian PM incomings as they are infrequent. Anyways, may you wear it in the best of health. Cheers!

Hello correct yes I acquired one but it didn’t mean anything to me so I let it go. It was simply an opportunity that I was able to capitalize on in the moment. Right time right place kind of thing.

As this watch is to mark a certain achievement I wanted to wait until I hit the goal. It happened much faster then anticipated but that tends to be story of my life when I set my eyes on the prize.

Anyways, if I could go back in time I never would’ve let this one go but c’est la vie.

Now regarding these discontinued rumours, I’m holding back from commenting and adding anymore fuel to the fire.

No, I'll bite and add more fuel to the fire.

But before congrats OP!

I've recently acquired one after my fair share of calling around the world. Many ADs had no idea the watch was discontinued until I placed an order and they couldn't get one. The ones I did find were already sitting in shelves but other than that I could not order one in with my regular ADs. I called A fair few in Europe and USA. Interestingly the only reason this came to my attention is because my regular AD called me to give me the heads up this piece was discontinued. Same AD that informed me about the looming 5% price increase in UK (note when several members vouched for this initially they were practically put on a stake to even dare believe what their AD said and now it's true...)

Anyway if anyone has been successful in making a new order or has access to a new order (not one sitting in a shelf) please do post away!

I remember thinking (& commenting) post Basel that introduction of the PM blue dial BLRO seemed like Rolex were more than likely aiming to deplete white gold stock from then existing inventory.

Would not be surprised at all if the PM BLRO were to be discontinued

i would agree for the fully cased watches w/ existing movements as its just a dial swap. I fully expect a new movement with the blue dial, otherwise i would think they could have depleted stock with the black dial just fine.

Its logical, but that assumes Rolex is being logical.

Well I will be visiting my AD this AM and asking for a firm confirmation on whether or not I will be receiving this watch.

Isn't it unusual, if it is discontinued, that it's still advertised on the website?

Extremely unsual. That's why I had to check with so many ADs after my one told me it was discontinued. Never in my life seen a Rolex discontinued in such a manner (while still on the website). Anyway, eager to hear what your AD says.

I'd be curious as to how the ordering process works in this case. I believe in the US that ADs will first check their affiliated locations for existing stock before going to what I assume is the US distributor. If none are available then a physical order is placed in Switzerland (not sure if that is placed by the store or is processed through the distributor). I would expect that if that happens there must be some form of paper trail confirming the order, which the AD should theoretically be able to provide as confirmation.
