Speedy is the Leviathan of the watch world, you cant skip past its price point without REALLY talking yourself into something else for some illogical reason.

I own both and if I have to choose to keep only one it would be the Speedy without even thinking.

But don't do this error buying it on the strap. Buy it on the bracelet and squeeze the AD for a strap with deployant. If you'll decide to sell it down the road it should be on on the steel bracelet.

Because of the manual wind the speedy is not an option for me, so I would go with the Black Bay or anything else. However I would save for the Oyster perpetual, I think today's oyster perpetual's look amazing, Rolex has really brought them back to life with the new dials and amazing clasp with the etched Rolex logo.

I vote Speedy - it’s a pure stunner and I find it difficult getting it off my wrist to the point where my 214270 is taking a back seat. After two years of wear the hesalite has a couple of minor marks but if it really bothered me I’d buff them out with Polywatch.

You mentioned the bracelet wasn’t comfortable, so ensure to get the latest 005 (hesalite) version with the new bracelet. Then you could do what I did and swap the clasp for the one with the push button. Then you’re almost guaranteed to get a perfect fit.

If it was one or the other, Speedy. I have both. Like both. But completely different watch as you know. The BB is easier to read to me though.

I also can't say enough good things about the Speedmaster Professional. I bought an almost new pre-owned example for $3K from Topper in California and love it. I put it on a vintage brown leather Bulang & Sons strap and its my go-to watch when I don't want to wear $10K+ on my wrist. It works especially well among non-WIS as it's not too flashy, hipsters appreciate its historical cred (and the fact that it's not Rolex), and it's so durable. It also has a thin minimal profile while still maintaining solid presence due to its case diameter. It's a watch you can wear camping, at a dive bar, at a holiday gathering, driving a sports car, or at horological event and no one will ever give you grief, only praise... universally well-regarded and a pleasure to wear as a daily timepiece. Buy one for under $3,500 and you'll never regret it. Great in rotation.

Tough question, both are nice watches and have totally different vibes when you wear them. I really like the red BB, but I chose the BB S&G for me I really like the way it looks on my wrist and would have a hard time getting rid of it. I do prefer it on a bracelet than a strap though. A strap on a Black Bay is cool but it never looks like it fits properly.

The Speedmaster is iconic and I formed an opinion a while back, that a speedy and a ND Sub is basically the perfect two piece sports watch collection, but it has a lower tolerance for water exposure and it’s manual wind, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how much you like to interact with your watch.

If I was given an ultimatum to dump one of those two watches, it would be a tough choice. But I lean towards keeping the Speedy.

+1 on not buying on the strap. Buy with the bracelet and change to strap if so desired later.

IMO, Speedy absolutely. No better bang for the buck in the mechanical watch world, especially for a chrono.

Love that band on the Speedy. Is that OEM or something purchased after-market? I know virtually nothing about Omegas but have always sort of been interesting in picking one of these up.

OP39 for me.

But out of the 2 you mention the Speedy if sapphire, BB if not. BB58 is the best all around option imo

Black Bay seems to be the world's most flipped watch. There has to be a reason for that. Save up for a Rolex, or just get the speedy.

The Speedy Pro never disappoints. I wear my Milgauss more, but the Speedy might just be my favorite. There's simply no beating the iconic design and heritage.
