Very different pieces to steel. You either go for the white gold bracelet: sporty looking but more fancy than steel, heavy (some like, some don’t) and more scratch prone. Definitely a special piece though. I went for a white gold on leather as I managed to pick one up for pre owned not much more than a decent steel version was going for. Perhaps that tells you a little about the resale value but I have since been offered more than I paid for it as a trade so that’s good enough for me. If you buy right (preowned, be patient and get one in good condition) then I think precious metal is a good call. I like how to people in the know they stand out given they often have precious metal only dials.

Think that is my favourite ceramic bezel Daytona. Beautiful!

Oh yeah!

I’m a huge fan of WG Daytona, presently with 4in the rotation. Also have white dial SS but the PM dials, weight and straps are mind-blowing! And the value is hard to dispute in this era of ridiculous prices for steel! Hope this helps a bit

It’s heavy but not as crazy as I thought. When I put it on my wrist, wow, now I know what grail means :)

In the end though I did not get it. I want to be absolutely sure about it bec if I did get it, then that’s it. I’m calling it a day. Or shall I say calling it a day(tona) lol.

I have this watch and just love it; forget your concerns, go with your instinct....and buy it. It will give years of pleasure. Incidentally, I think it shows why gold Daytonas are best with a proper bracelet. It's what they were designed for. More costly, because a lot more solid gold, but better in the long-term. Gold and rubber don't seem natural companions, to me anyway.

I'm with you. The ceramic bezel just doesn't work for me on the Daytona like it does on the subs or GMTs.

I agree, although my incoming Daytona has a croc strap. I initially was against it (I wanted the blue face with PM bracelet) but I just couldn't get over the price.

Unless you are very, very comfortable, I think buying used is the only way to go. Of course, someone has to buy these things new, in order to populate the used market.

How is resale on PM Daytona?

Scratches on the former bezels are an issue no matter the metal. The ceramic bezels fixed that.

On resale - the residual value is best if you buy that first Daytona as pre-owned and avoid the currently overheated values of the SS models.

If you go for a previous generation WG Daytona, your dial choice will also have an impact. The Meteorite dials seem to do better as opposed to the other combinations.

Agreed. However, steel and black dial with ceramic is a very nice combination.

I have that same reference. It's nice. A bit easy to scratch, so I daily my 116500. The SS weighs just right and so is more comfortable. I'm keeping both. The 116509 was a gift from my brother.

There is a significant drop in residual value

But if it's a keeper it's irrelevant, if you're trying it out, I'd but second hand

This is how it went for me.... Roughly speaking
Very few dial combinations will change these figures, and with new more desirable released straps and bezel cropping up, it doesn't help
That’s pretty close to resale premium on SS, no? Seems much better deal to buy second hand then

IMO i feel its too early thinking about resale value, its also possible such thoughts could be wiped off in future time.

Normally not a fan of the oyster flex bracelet, but this is an exception. Great looking watch!
