Yes, you’ll be fine.
Keep checking in, be please by to the staff & you’ll get your watch. Went into an AD early last year despite never owning a Rolex before, requesting to try a Sub, Sub Date, BLNR & Daytona. Decided on the Sub Date & 1 year later it was mine. Best of luck & if that AD seems to be fobbing you off, find one who looks after you. |

If I wanted this watch, I’d have zero qualms paying fair market price.
I’d go gray without second thought. Life is short.

Life is much too short and the money will vaporize into something else anyway, I rather know that I spent it on something and get to enjoy it starting now. I think your chances are very slim to none that your patience will pay off. The Daytona has been controlled by Rolex and ADs even before the demand spiked. And these waiting lists don't even exist really, just another way to pacify would be dreamers. Pay the premium and enjoy the watch or find another brand or another reference you like. |

Sad to say without purchase history your chances are close to zero. Just be glad you're on a list.
Maybe if you wait until end of production cycle in 10-15 years it might happen but what kind of life is that ? Will the staff/AD even know who you are as SA move around. Trying to get one of hottest watches on the planet with no Rolex and no purchase history is like getting struck by lightning ....there's alway possibility as you never know I know everyone has their own way of living or spending their money but waiting for something for 10+ years is silly IMHO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

"eventually" ;yes
just like the Sun will eventually stop burning. In real terms, having absolutely zero information on either you or your AD, kinda hard to say, but I'll go with "No". Sorry.

I dont think so, there were people who were still on the waitlist for a ss non ceramic daytona when it was discontinued and replaced by the new ceramic daytona.

Plenty of trusted sellers on the forum. I also got lucky meeting a friend on the forum who helped me find the SD43 that I have been wearing nonstop for 6 months. Persistence pays off. TRF is an amazing place

It comes down to developing a personal relationship with your AD. They know there are flippers and they know there are people who will wear the watch for life. They will be more likely to help you if you've bought a few watches and show a genuine interest in horology versus always just trying to score the latest and greatest. I go in to my AD a least once a quarter to check on the stock and BS with my watch guy. I told him what I want and he said, he'll call me when it comes in. That's pretty much how it works. I'm glad it's taking so long because that's a lot of money for a watch and I'm not a wealthy man. By the time my number get's called I should have the cash and not miss it.

For the 500, if I didn’t have one and wanted one, I’d call the gray today. On my wrist tomorrow.

I think the Daytona is the only Rolex I would consider paying over msrp if I wanted it. All the others with time should become available again. However I don’t want it - for the grey market price so many other options are open to you.

I'd look at it this way. Go ahead and pay fair market for the watch. Put it on your wrist now and enjoy it's beauty every day...smile every time you look at it. In a few years, if you get that magical "call," then go in, buy the watch, and then flip it to get your premium that you paid back. If you don't get it all back, you've still enjoyed the watch every day, which should count for something, right? If you don't get the call, well...then you're still ahead. Because you own the watch. |

My experience was in 1990 I placed deposits and my name on several lists for a zenith Daytona. In 2011 I finally got a Daytona from a completely different source/inside connection. The lists and deposits meant nothing in my experience.

Many ADs will simply not sell you a Daytona as a first Rolex. The Daytona tends to be viewed more as a connoisseurs piece in the line up by most ADs.
Good luck in your search, but I’d be surprised if you were given the opportunity to purchase one. Anything is possible though..

You won’t get one and even if you did, it would be years and years from now (think 5-8 years best case). With Rolex prices going up, you will suffer a decade without your dream watch and pay the same in the future as buying from a gray dealer or private seller now?
I recommend you bite the bullet and buy now from gray. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Why do people pay a massive premium for a stainless Daytona, but a Gold Daytona is discounted making the price close to the SS? Why don't people just go with the Gold?

many prefer the ss daytona as a daily watch, not the gold one. ss is more durable and hold its value better. also there is not much discount on PM daytona any more.

Its also possible the AD you go to may have their contract pulled by Rolex before your turn comes up. Its happened to me twice, just this year.

I’m saying no. I’m on the loader for two watches and they haven’t called it’s been over a year!

Not likely. I spoke at length with an AD. He said it's just not possible to get a Daytona unless you have a sales history. He said it wasn't the dealer's policy, it was Rolex's policy. Even for those customers who are "qualified," it can be a 5 to 6 year wait.
Then without actually saying the words "gray market," the sales associate initiated the subject of "non-authorized dealers" into the conversation. If I really wanted one, he said I could get a Daytona (or BLNR), BUT, I would be paying way over MSRP for the instant gratification. For a SS GMT LN, he would be happy to put me on a list, but there would still be roughly a 6 month wait. For a Daytona or BLNR, I'd have to first cross the into a preferred customer threshold, THEN be put on a list. If money is no object, he said "non-authorized dealers" are the way to go. He was frank about it, and I appreciated that. I would just have to decide what has more value to me--getting to a point where I'm "qualified" to be put on a list for the privilege of paying MSRP; or, pay a premium, but get instant gratification. |
