I honestly think a yellow 18K Sub with the LVc green dial will be the best new luxury diving watch look. The green and yellow is such a natural color combo and will look good on everybody’s wrist. Blue has been done to death IMO. Rolex has shown it can do other colors equally as well.

A YG green Sub would be amazing, but if Rolex is looking for something new in SS, what else might it do besides blue?

I'd like it if they made it a blue No Date. It would differentiate it enough from the WG, plus it would be another ND option out there against the slew of cyclops options...

And honestly, is anyone actually expecting them to update the sub this year? Wouldn't they wait until 2023?

10/10 would absolutely buy a new movement steel blue sub, if it arrives sooner than my dealer gives me the call on a SD43.

I remember looking into swapping a TT band for a steel band, but the added cost bothered me too much.

I considered the green Sub but for everyday the green was just a little too much for me.

Meh...not really interested unless they do something pretty spectacular with the blue. If we're saying just the same smurf-y blue as the WG, only in steel...I'm out.

Weight I think. Been wearing SD's for years, and they've always been "top heavy". I used to own a Deepsea (actually owned it twice) and I recall the weight was always noticeable. Not a true problem mind you, just not as comfortable as a std. Sub or GMT as an example. I attribute it to be the difference in weight. My 2 cents.

I think a blue smurf is not probable. For modern professional model rolexes, blue is synonymous with WG. That’s why the WG BLRO now has a blue dial. And the Sky-D is not considered a professional model. So i think blue and WG will continue to be the combination for the Submariner.

I think you're reaching. The WG Pepsi only came out with a blue dial this year, and it was promptly discontinued. Before that, it had a black dial for five years. The SS Y-M has a blue dial, and there is a blue-dial TT Sub, which is more stainless than PM. Also, both the SS Sky-D and DJ have blue dial options. Granted, the latter two are not Professional models, but I don't think there is sufficient precedent to say blue dials on Professional models are associated with PM. There isn't a clear line on this.

Jocke must have done this already - let’s see it!

I’ll bet he’s already done both sunburst from TT and smurf from WG

SS Blue Sub aka: Smurf - (and then Rolex can send all of the WG Smurf owners black dials so they can be different)
We all said they'd never do that to the WG - BLRO owners and Rolex did the exact same thing

There are so many better options than bluesy SS, like white dial Sub - been done before!

We are in area of speculation anyway. My gut tells me that rolex is deliberately associating blue (all shades) with PM except for DJ and OP. The SS pepsi jubilee happened because it gave them chance to distinguish WG with a blue dial.

Even the platinum variants (daytona and DD) have blue dials.

Actually, both YM and Sky D have PM elements as well in their blue dial variants.

Personally, i wish rolex went in this direction since i like blue and PM.

Likewise.

I'm also hoping at Basel 2019 they'll release an updated Hulk with the new upgraded movement.

I think Rolex has already shown there true colors after the SS Pepsi's arrival. I wouldnt put it past them to do a SS Smurf, SS Coke, SS DD etc. There is nothing they wont do to sell more watches. They are already tooled for the design and just need to change the material that goes into the front end. Prices keep going the way they are they will be able to increase MSRP and have a greater return on a non precious metal. SS will be there new Gold and they can call it Francsteel.

I thought Rolex might have made the SS BLRO with white dial so as to appease WG owners, and it looks good against the bezel, but no they went black too, so by that reckoning a white or silver dial Sub is possible as is blue. Would be ironic if they went blue bezel and grey dial like the new SMP, which is a hit, and were chasing Omega.

As they have sunbursts on the YG and TT I'm inclined to think it will be a flat powder blue, maybe like the new BLRO blue. Both new blue versions will be hugely oversubscribed so protecting the sunbursts is the smarter move.
