Very suspicious watch that is never worth that sort of money. I'd love to know the true story behind it and I doubt WF would ever give you it.
I can only guess it has been re-manufactured as a modern watch, maybe as a replacement for somebody linked with COMEX who clearly knew the potential value, kept all the stickers on and is now flogging it. Not a true COMEX watch IMO. |

If it had lug holes I’d buy it.

You got to be very very careful with vintage watches. Too many shady things happening in that space.

That is exactly like my 16600, same model, box etc. (except for the extra text on the dial and on the back)

I admit I'm completely ignorant about this aspect, but do Seadwellers normally come with a Submariner book?

I’m no expert on comex SDs but I agree the box and plastic warranty card seem odd - although the listing claims it was made in 2008.
Quick search shows that the Comex 16600 was only made in '92 and '97. I think back then, the box and papers would look as such: Did they do a limited run in '08? |

Unworn Comex up for sale

Comex serial number is in range for the last batch produced until 1997. I dont think it is legit though. Edit: last number was supposedly 3499, so something is weird here. But Rolex will always know more than we ever will. |

That watch has zero chance to be worth millions. It wasn’t worn by anyone. It wasn’t used in a Comex operation. The kit is highly questionable. If all things are legit, that’s a big if, it’s likely someone in the office staff that was given the watch. IMO it has nowhere near the value that is being asked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Unworn Comex up for sale
All looks same as my M serial 16600 except COMEX on dial and caseback engraving or stamping.
Yes, M serial SD did come with plastic warranty card and Submariner booklet and this tool kit in green leather. Mine seems like a relative bargain at $5k Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have to agree; looks recently fabricated to take advantage of the Comex desirability. Too modern and the serial number seems out of the range of the genuine thing. Definitely pass!!! I suspect it's more bollocks than Comex.

Thanks for clarifying Haywood.
Is there a possibility that this could have sat unsold from its manufacture in, say, 2005? And then been sold with the plastic card? Interestingly I cant find the client (country) code of "115" anywhere. Comex is listed as being 119.

I’m interested in hearing more from Haywood and the other vintage forum guys, if there’s anything to add. There seems to be some divergence here with respect to what we are looking at here

Do you know the Rolex case number, or do you mean the Comex case-back number?

Looks like there's now a second that has popped up - https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Rolex/...85/item/120318
Interestingly this has what looks to be Rolex service case stickers? |
