Submariner on rubber

World best for the Rolex range? There are plenty of better bracelets out there, and some may prefer other Rolex options than the Oyster bracelet.

For starters - some people find rubber is more comfortable, doesn’t scrape on a desk and looks better too.

Both my AP and Casio have rubber/plastic straps, the difference between them is huge. If you’ve never tried a high end rubber strap I can recommend doing so as you may change your mind.

It’s a metaphorical radar, used to signify the likelihood of a casual observer noticing what watch one is wearing.

As you probably know most PP tourbillons already fly under the aforementioned ‘radar’ better than most Rolexes. Patek often even go to the trouble of only showing the tourbillon from the back, and not dial side - we can guess at their motives, but presumably to also fly under, an albeit different, radar.

To answer your rhetorical questions :
- I don’t own a Rolex
- I don’t think it screams privilege, but it is easily recognisable as an expensive watch.
- Yes my watches have been bought with money earned through a combination of hard work & fortuitous opportunity.
- There is a big difference between being ashamed of something and just not wanting to so publicly share one’s taste in higher end watches for a multitude of different reasons.

Did I miss something? That seems like a bit much as a reply to an “under the radar” comment. Shame, privilege, having “earned” it, worked for it and paid for it, etc. all often have absolutely nothing to do with wanting a watch that’s “under the radar”.

For good or for bad Rolex is one of if not the most recognizable watch companies in the world and the submaRiner is one of the most
Iconic watches they offer. A platinum PP might actually draw less attention than a sub.

personally, I think a rubber strap would look much better if they were connected to solid end links like the Daytona's have..

All personal preference obviously...I really like the rubber B on the GMT.

Excuse the first pic uploaded to these forums...probably got the sizing wrong

Is that an Omega strap or one from another source? It appears to fit quite well. Please PM me with the source if not Omega as I'd like to get one.

My well loved yacht master on a somewhat dirty white rubber b. I think the white goes well with the nautical theme.

I wear mine on rubber because it is comfortable and it is perfect for desk diving. Scraping the clasp of my steel bracelet against my desk was getting old. Mine is an Everest.
(I have a Casio on a rubber bracelet and I can tell those who think that Everest rubber is somehow "Casio" like that they are wrong. The Everest rubber is far superior.)

I also have a SubC on a black Everest strap. I like it a lot.
I have a BLNR I'm thinking of trying a leather strap on it.

My SubC on Oyster Flex. Up to the point that I put this together i was not a huge fan of rubber straps. I was looking for something to reduce the radar signature, given the environment in which I might wind up wearing the watch. Not only did I accomplish that (I think), it is super comfortable and with the glidelock clasp even better still.

I bought the OF from my AD and (this is crazy) I bought another full bracelet, clasp so I can swap back and forth at ease. Great setup really.

That actually looks like the best option for the Sub. The wide luges make rubber look awkward but the OF looks really good.

Thank you for sharing that. I want to buy an Everest band for my new Sub, but with rubbing issues, I may need to pass on that option.

Older subs look great on straps. The new maxi case with wide lugs makes the strap look too narrow to me and hence the watch head heavy. The blend of the bracelet to the head covers this up somewhat.

I think it looks great. Reminds me of a funny thing that happened to me when I was wearing my Sub Date on a rubber strap. My wife and I were at a mall and stopped by Ben Bridge to look at something for her. (non-watch) The sales person saw my Sub on rubber and commented; "You're Not Allowed To Do That." LOL...
