I think JJ already has an exclusive Nike endorsement (check his shirt).
Seriously, I am not a fan of celebrity endorsement. The company is PAYING someone to tout their product, it doesn't mean that they believe in or actually use the product (as just pointed out, Eric Clapton). Also, for every person that likes a celebrity there are (usually) just as many that don't like or don't care for that person. Fairly or unfairly, I don't care for Richard Gere, I think he is somewhat of a crank in his private life, therefore he would imply a negative connotation to a product for me. I think Jackie Stewart and Chuck Yeager are great men but just because they were paid by Rolex for their endorsements doesn't make me more likely to buy a Rolex. I buy products for what they are, not because of what some celebrity is paid to say. |
