Well if I would have read the entire thread I could have just agreed with the above. Perfection.

I am usually a somewhat under the radar guy, but after flipping a few watches throughout 2018, I ended up with an OP39 white and well.. I have to admit I am a little underwhelmed. It just feels small. I am not in love with it the same way I am with my Submariner every time I put it on, but I need something I can dress up a bit more.

Do you feel the fluted bezel is overly flashy on this watch?

You should like you were in the same boat as me. If you think the OP is small at 39mm the DJ41 is only 39.5mm. And on a jubilee it wears small imo. I had it for 6 months but felt it was too small. Traded it for a BNOS DJll. I love the big bezel. The pros on a jubilee is that it doesn’t show any scratches. And it’s comfortable. But the clasp leaves something to be desired. I think the fluted oyster give you more of a dress up and dress down option. The oyster has a lot of shine on it too. Not as much as a jubilee but a lot with the CPLs. Last thing is the fluted bezel hides a lot of scratches. I would rather have light scratches on the bottom of my watch then on the watch face. So out of your two options I would go with fluted and oyster.

I think the smooth bezel looks too much like a movado on the DJ

For me, Jubilee and Fluted belong together.
Flashy? Yes, compared to a lot of other options.
Too flashy? No.

Fluted and jubilee all day long. It's classic Rolex and both bezel and bracelet hide scratches the best.

Smooth on oyster ,,= more sports like and less blingy

Fluted on jubilee,,,= very dressy,,,more a piece of jewellery
My personal view only,
All the best Op,,
Can’t go wrong with either,,

I love my DJ41. Non fluted is more subtle. Rhodium and silver dial are my faves, although my BLRO has been stealing the show lately.

Just got a TT DJ41 with a fluted bezel and jubilee. Yes it flashes, but in a way that exudes sophistication and elegance rather than attracting attention for the wrong reasons. The combo you are describing with the blue dial also means white gold, so it will be less flashy than the TT. The fluted bezel belongs on this watch. You won’t regret getting it, especially if you are looking for a dressier piece.

I think the Date Just with blue dial and Fluted bezel with Jubilee bracelet is a perfect watch. Is it "too" flashy? -No-

Love the fluted bezel and jubille combo. Not flashy at all. Still learning how to minimize the photo size to upload my photo.

Yes, fluted looks a little flashy but IMO it just looks better, and certainly more iconic for the model. Never been a fan of a smooth bezel. I've owned five DJs so far, all with fluted/jubilee but that's simply one man's preference.

I like fluted + oyster for the versatility. Jubilee seems too dressy for me.. I think a fluted bezel makes the DJ because it’s so iconic.

Also, after wearing the Oyster bracelet on GMT2c, Jubilee on GMT2c and Jubilee on DJ41; I have to say that the Jubilee is a little more comfortable. On my wrist anyway.

I looked at the same watches, in the same colors and had the same concerns. I went to get a blue OP and liked the DJ41 better.

1. Get the jubilee. No one will notice either way and IMO it’s better for this model/color anyway.

2. I chose the smooth bezel to de-bling the watch and I wish I had purchased the the fluted.

I actually liked the smooth better at the time, but have since changed my mind. Also, this isn’t a great pic of what I mean but, I think fluted would show scratches less.

Go for the combo which you really like. I would go for the Jubilee and smooth bezel combo.

I didn't like the Jubilee too much for whatever reason. And definitely fluted!

Never really saw a DJ41 I didn't like. And everyone has different taste. For me, it's either smooth bezel/Oyster or fluted bezel/Jubilee. Those are really the only two combos I would go for. I like a bit of bling, so would love the Jubilee and fluted bezel. Then again, I am far too advanced in life to worry about whether others like my watch or not. Actually, even earlier in life I never really worried about that.

Cheers,
Carl

I wear my smooth bezel / jubilee with t shirts and dress shirts. I think you can dress it up or down. Mine is a blue face dj41

while the smooth bezel looks great i personally think djs are at their best with fluted+jubilee

yes its flashy but even if you go with a smooth bezel the jubilee bracelet shines like crazy, so might as well get the complete package
