Don't get me wrong, that's a smokin price so Kudos to you in getting a great deal.
yup, i was actually trying to get a combo for a better deal. they were actually giving in. but i just resisted it.

I just bought a GMT IIc about 3 weeks ago. My AD gave me 15% off MSRP and offered me 20% off a SUB.

That's equivilent to the Duty Free price I got in Aruba (Gandelman's May 2008), with the Canuck buck at par with the American greenback.

So my question is why aren't more Americans buying in Canada, that equates to just under 5k American.
I believe the total discount may be higher in the U.S. given that we don't have Sales Tax (if the product is shipped out of state).

More importantly, I don't think people want to deal with the hassle of cross-boarder duties.

Just my 2 cents (saved).

That sounds like a pretty good deal. Retail $7000. Out the door $6000 including tax I'm assuming? If so, you did better than 20%. I'd take that deal.

If memory serves me correct you still pay the taxes but upon crossing the border into the U.S. you can claim back the taxes, but then again the cross border duties are something that you'll have to consider.
