That’s right. And unless a person has lost a pet they could never understand.

Sorry for your loss. my dog is now 13 yrs old and We are freaking out. He has been with us through bad and good times. Destiny brought him to us, nobody wanted him when he was a puppy; just too active for some people. We kept him for couple of nights as a favor and the rest is history.

Sorry to hear this. Losing a pet is hard. Especially when you’re the primary caregiver.

So sorry for your loss, i have been there before and felt totally drained emotionally.

They are family and normally a very big part of that family.

So very true.

I had a customer once say, “it’s only a dog”. Clearly, not a pet person.

I stopped doing pets for a few years. After my beloved lab died in 2003. I simply could not cope, and I didn’t want to ever feel that level of pain and loss again.

But it’s the life our pets share with us that we must remember and focus on. And the joy that they bring.

Fully agree. I once had to bury my family cat who died from disease and old age. He's particularly affectionate and made us all very sad with his passing. We have other pets afterwards but it's not the same anymore. Its certainly not just another dog or another cat. Pets are part of our lives.

I am truly stunned and grateful for all the wonderful posts. I did not receive the same comfort from my family; our pigs (2) became my responsibility when the kids were too busy and the wife never really bonded with them. The pig that passed, named Lina, loved to roll a ball back to me after I chose red or yellow. She would also drop at my feet for a quick belly rub. It’s great to see so many animal lovers that can share the same experience of love and sadness. Your kindness really meant a lot to me.

To paraphrase a Will Rogers saying.......if there are no dogs, cats, pigs, horses, pets in heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.

Pets are one of the few things in life that love you unconditionally. They are such a comfort in bad times and share your joy in good times.

Very sorry for your loss. For many of us, our pets aren’t really pets. They’re family. I can tell you that I love my dogs more than half of my actual family.

I’m sure you gave your pig a great life. She’s at peace now.
