So in that example did you use Registered Mail, or USPS Express Mail overnight?

Express envelope.

I have only used Registered one time in my life to send an heirloom watch to a conservator in Oregon from California and it took two and a half weeks to get there.

Thanks - yes the Registered Mail approach is the slowest option USPS has but it has been the safest thus far.

I have shipped dozens of watches by USPS. I have also received almost the same volume by FEDEX - including one from the NY RSC who began to ship watches to customers via FEDEX. No problems on any for me thus far.

Looks like some positive movement, after 6 days at the Washington DC post office it has finally departed. Don't know where it is going, but it is moving!
The buyers post office is about 20 miles away.

That is good to hear.

One thing to know about USPS Registered Mail tracking - the package may have been awaiting a path with the least intermediate steps. Each place it transits must have a “red cage” where the package is kept under lock and key. I know that is archaic, but physical security and certified workers are paramount.

I used to work the Miami Annex where all Registered Mail has to transit before dispatch to the branch office for delivery. Out of 500+ employees only 10-15 were certified to work inside the red cage.

Delivered!

Took the post office 10 days (Westchester, NY to MD)
During the process the package sat at the Washington, DC postal center for 6 days!

Registered Mail is slow, but it does get there.

I purchased a watch and it took 2 weeks to get from California to NJ via registered mail.

Awful...

Those messages stopped on the 10th and there is no movement of the package. With Registered Mail you cannot put in a claim until 15 days after shipment. I called my local post office where it was mailed but his system does not see anything different than what I see.
I have used Registered Mail many times before without any problems. Yes, it is very slow, but this is the worst experience to date. I cannot understand why the package is just sitting in Washington for 6 days with no movement and the final destination is just 20 miles away.
That’s sucks.

I think I saw AOC wearing it!?

I trust USPS registered mail, however, you cant look at the tracking info as it's basically useless. It will get there though.
