My wife understands and supports my watch obsession. My grandparents were watchmakers, so it is in my blood :)

My "woman"????? If you mean the person I chose to share the rest of my life with and not the implication of ownership as per it seems in the title, then Claire is fine with me buying Rolex watches.

Aardvarks however are a different matter!

My wife tolerates my obsession. She'll even stop when we go by an AD, knowing that I have to look. She even tolerated my taking our 8 month old granddaughter into a VC shop in Manhatten while we were walking down the street. Hey, nothing like teaching the grandkids early, right!

But she does like the people we meet at the GTG's. She's been to several with me, in DC, London, Melbourne, and Auckland (yes she has meet our infamous BKL) and has enjoyed the cameraderie that develops. That's the greatest thing about this place - the people.

My good wife and I have been married for almost 46 years now. I presently have 1 Rolex, 3 Omegas, 3 Seikos and 2 Swiss Army watches. Yep, she gets a bit upset when I add another.

I told her... "hey, I don't drink, gamble, smoke or run around!" Her reply, "have you considered, it!" ;~)
Cheers y'all, Bill P.

When I first started dating Aadil, I didn't understand what the big deal was about watches. He has been interested in horology since childhood, but he could never explain it to me. He just loves watches, and when I asked why he needed so many, he likened it to jewelery or purses that I have, pointing out that it was an accessory. I support his watch obsession, and have bought him three watches over the years

Fortunately for me my wife of 18 years doesn't know or ask how many Rolex watches I own or purchase. I keep them in the safe and although she has access she virtually never opens the safe. I guess she just trusts that I know what I'm doing when I buy them.

It certainly doesn't hurt that I buy one for her occassionally also. And I always pick up some kind of really nice jewelry (usually with diamonds) every year or so just for her.

My wife knows that these timepieces are worth the money. For that I am thankful.

It is a great thing to have a wife who "understands"!!

Ok, just got clearance from my wife to do this - it is a bit 'risque', so don't click on the link if you're faint of the heart....

I was away in Switzerland on business. Couple weeks before that, I bought a Chronoswiss Opus online - I thought it was a magnificently decorated skeleton watch (I know, I know, it is a 7750) for under $10k. The watch showed up at home while I was in Switzerland, but my wife didn't tell me when we spoke on the phone daily - instead, this photo (not work safe) and a note saying: 'Your Opus and I can't wait for you to return' attached to it showed up in my inbox. Needless to say, she is very supportive of my watch obsession.

She was also very supportive of me when I decided to leave the financial sector, my full-time occupation, and go with my passion, which is collecting, trading, and finding rare watches for people. She's a good girl!

My wife wishes I had a watch obsession. After most of my activities and hobbies, she would relax a lot more if I just sat around and played with watches.

My wife has no problem with my liking for watches. She has a few of her own (Rolex Yachtmaster, Tudor Lady Sub, Kahuna thingy on a nato and a dainty old Pulsar quartz). She even placed the winning bid on a Seiko skx007 for me! I keep buying 40's to 80's clocks as well but that is another thread!

This is fair! One watch for every 10 pair of shoes!!

If this were the case I would have 36 Rolexes!

Imelda Marcos comes to mind.............................................. ..!

I am highly offended of you using a photo of my wife in your post.

But.......... I forgive you! As I forgot I had that one stored away somewhere!

Good to get her back!
