In comparable terms the Tudor Chrono is better than a Daytona....
As the Tudor has a date function the Daytona does not

Agree and if you get the correct model there is little if any depreciation.

I have always been a Rolex fan and it is where I started in the watch game and it will always be special to me. With that said, my favorite watches right now are the Tudors in my collection. I like the wear, look, functions and the blending of quality and price. Another big deal for me is I can actually buy the watches with a decent discount and when it comes time to sell or flip I am close to even. And the watches can be found. Even some of the LE pieces can be purchased with ease with a slight price bump. Add in the NATO and leather strap options and the combinations available are strong. Some of the posts here on TRF are interesting where members feel the need to diminish or insult someone else's property or thoughts. Typically when I see it, it is from a newer member. I think you can disagree or not like something without offering offense or putting someone's property down. But, then again, some people enjoy doing that. I will say a lot of things are great for what they are. Tudor is a great watch company and makes some wonderful watches. Not for everyone but for enough of us.

Tudor has always been positioned as little brother of Rolex. You can tell from their resemblance. Sub vs Blackbay. I would say Rolex is more flashy and fine polished, and Tudor is more accessible. I got Rolex Hulk, Batman, SD4000 and Daytona 116520 a few years back, and I have recently acquired Tudor BBGMT. I bought Tudor because of its quality, design and its relative affordable price. With 1/3 price of a new SS Rolex, you get a new toy, why not? Yep, Rolex is amazing but Tudor is also great.

Help me to understand:
You get the feeling here that spending at least 3k on a watch (Tudor) is a poor man’s choice... People certainly have too much money to spend!
It shouldn’t be all about money...

one more thing I like to add ...
I hate to show off but some people do know me a bit better and do know which other watches I have. I can tell there are quite a few Patek and I'm not talking about some Calatrava but think about enamel dial watches, anniversary watches, ...

Would it be cool if I said a Rolex is a poor man's watch and I only wear Patek ? Leave the cheap rolex for the 'others'

That would be disgusting right ?

Besides I ofter wear a Swatch too ... nothing wrong with that

I don’t like the look of the bracelet.
I don’t like the vintagey look that most seem to have IMHO.
I can’t stand that snowflake hand. It’s the worst IMHO.
the stylings and matte finishes don’t blend well for me.

A man of my humble means can only dream of owning a Rolex. I still have aspirations of one day saving up and being able to afford a Timex.

and those are all perfectly valid personal preferences expressed as such.

There are many Tudors I can't stand the look of, but doesn't mean that they are bad or lesser watches, simply that they are not for me...

Well said, my friend.

As far as Tudors go, they have brought a nice balance to my Rolex collection. I can honestly say they bring me as much joy as any watch I own...which at the end of the day is really the most important thing, isn't it?

Own and enjoy both brands. It just so happens Tudor has had more references that fit my needs, such as a chrono w/ a date and rotating bezel or larger DD and blue Sub in stainless steel. That was by choice, not settling. Hard concept for some to grasp.

The one Rolex that always stood alone was my 16710 GMT II. Now Tudor has released a Pepsi GMT w/ adjustable 12 hour hand and I couldn’t be happier.

Buy what you like and enjoy.

I am a big fan of both brands. The fact that we always seem to see these threads is likely a sign that Rolex has done a great job with Tudor recently (maybe too good).

For me I love both brands equally. The fit and finish on my tudor blackbay is a good as my ceramic submariners.so I don't get why people say tudor is good but feels less quality lol it's just bias from tudor haters as the fit and finish on modern Tudors are amazing

The Pelagos and Sea Dweller are the “serious” dive watch in each lineup.
The Submariner has been made in date, no date, two tone, yellow gold, white gold, green bezel and dial, blue bezel and dial, black bezel....certainly more of a fashion piece. They don’t even have fully gradiated bezels.
This is why I personally like my Pelagos and Deepsea. All what you are looking for.

I’ll be honest, I think some Tudor owners overreact to the critical comments Rolex owners can make. The majority of this forum is very pro-Tudor, and the beautiful pictures and threads found here have led to me purchasing (and loving) two.

Whenever these threads come up I laugh because I imagine what it must be like at the factory. I always have this funny image of two Rolex employees who exact exactly like the bad rich guys in an 80’s ski movie bullying someone in a Tudor lab coat. The Tudor guy is scurrying down the hallway carrying a tray full of snowflake hour hands and they trip him spilling the hands everywhere: “Watch out! It can get slippery in a snowstorm!” “Good one!” *high five*

Seriously. They’re all just watches. Have fun with it.

I have both Tudor and Rolex. Both brand makes excellent watches. If I have to choose, I would pick Tudor for their new movement MT5612 and Rolex for their aesthetics build.

Op your forgetting that subtle differences in jewelry can make the difference between 500, 5000 or 50,000. So, I agree there isn’t much difference between Tudor or Rolex, and so it appears the value proposition is excellent for the money with Tudor. However, if one brand for the most part appreciates in value (and sells for considerably more) and the other brand, for the most part depreciates consistently, then those subtle differences you don’t care about is exactly what makes Rolex, Rolex, and Tudor, Tudor.

FYI I have my 58 on now and love it. But no way do I think Tudor is “better” then Rolex. Maybe better value for money.

When I saw the title of this thread I figured the direction it would take, and it didn’t disappoint!

It’s obvious that those who “couldn’t wear a Tudor” are extremely concerned with what others think, and identify themselves through the brands they wear. That’s kind of sad.

On paper Tudor looks like a slam dunk.. but everytime I've tried on one of their watches, I'm disappointed.

Just compare how they sit on the wrist, and the smoothness of the bezel vs a rolex bezel.. it's night and day.

And not a fair comparison either, they are a different price point for a reason.

Just can't bring myself to spend the money on Tudor when I know Rolex is there too.

Lovely watches there, Been wearing Rolexes for years. Although new to this forum and watches collecting in general, my eyes have been opened.

Tudor have certainly caught my eye, the BB's are some of the nicest watches out there at the moment IMHO. That includes most other marques, just my taste etc.

I am loving the Daytona, then through this forum learnt of the Tudor Big block, like a Daytona (I know its not, before the pitchforks come out) with a date. Liking it, practical and looks great.

The GMT is grabbing my attention aswel and funnily enough was just browsing some models for sale there.
