I’ve got too many too many GMT’s, but something worth considering that’s new on the block (well, re-engineered from the sixties), is the Zodiac GMT. Released at 2019 Baselworld and sold out straight away.
Another is the Ball Pilot GMT. If it’s a Rolex alternative, the the 42mm Exp 2 is my choice, black dial. |

A Steinhart homage could scratch the itch and is relatively inexpensive.

BB Gmt imo is the best alternative.

Maybe I'm crazy, or have poor taste in watches but if I was looking for a GMT and couldn't get ahold of a Rolex then this Nomos model does it for me - https://nomos-glashuette.com/en/tang...ngomat-gmt-635
No, it's not similar in anyway I just really like it. |

I always thought the polar Explorer II was unique and gorgeous. When I thought we'd be traveling a lot after retirement, I bought one and still wear it frequently. I've been a ham radio operator for over 40 years and often communicate with hams overseas (via morse code) and so was also attracted to the Ball WorldTime. Impulsively, I also picked up a Ball Engineer GMT when visiting LA. Both Ball watches are well made and sport ETA chronometer movements.

16710, of course. May never want to “upgrade.”

You might try the MKii line of watches. Boutique brand out of PA, the owner is quite passionate about his craft and produces a quality product. He currently has a GMT white dialed piece inspired by the Pan Am Rolex. Worth a look.

This is the perfect alternative. For something different but still offering GMT, I have a Reverso GMT and a Nautilus 5990. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Stunning watch, was just looking at one a few days ago in Japan. As much as I love my GMT-C, my feeling is that the GS is not inferior in any way. Congratulations on your good taste, it’s a fantastic and great looking piece! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

A good and cheaper alternative is the EXP2.

A nice Rolex GMT alternative is the mid-1990s to mid-2000s 79270 Tudor Chrono with the 12 hr bezel insert (no 3rd time zone though). Has the benefits of Rolex 40mm case, crown and bracelet quality. ETA movement has a date complication and appears reliable based on my experience and what's on the internet. Many dial color and indices variations. It's kinda like getting a 16520 Daytona with extra features but without all the fanfare and hoopla. I love the 16520 but shelling out $20k plus...
Still also somewhat affordable especially if you don’t care about the Tiger dial version. 270s are harder to find though compared to the 780s (steel MPH bezel) and 760 (black version of steel MPH bezel). |

The Tudor GMT is the one for me and I could have a Rolex Pepsi, at retail, if I wanted one.

Same here. I don't consider the Tudor GMT to be an "alternative" to the Rolex. I never had any interest in the Rolex GMT to begin with. Two very different watches in spite of their functional similarities.
