Undoubtedly one of the best looking Rolexes out there.

Personally, I would go yellow gold but it's entirely down to individual preference.

Both are great watches.

If you're in the market for the smurf, why not consider the WG GMT w/Meteorite dial? .. prob same price range ..

I love Smurf. I was considering one but to do it I would need to clear most of my collection

You’re killing me. I love that watch. Someone I knew had a fake one. I asked him “ Do you know how much a real one costs?” He didn’t have a clue.

I love the way it changes color depending on the source of light. Its a real master piece.

As per the advice above, I say go for it and enjoy the heck out of it.

Just FYI, I've never had an issue with an AD backdating the paperwork to reflect a special occasion.

Buy this watch from a gray market dealer. Nuts to pay even close to retail. Plus, I am think there a good chance Rolex will issue the new Subs next year with thinner lugs and the new movement. Might lead off with a WG model as they did with the Smurf. Unless you buy used, I would wait.

Respectfully disagree. I wear it daily. It is very balanced and comfortable. I also had a DSSD. That was top heavy and flopping all the time. I traded DSSD to get smurf.

Birth year of 1665? Golly, you are old! No, wait, maybe I misunderstood. 65 years old, perhaps? I don't know. Congrats, whatever it is.

It's a gorgeous watch, I've tried it on and the weight is just perfect. I can't see that kind of money in a single watch for me (in a collection, sure) but then we all have different incomes and tolerances... where I spend/waste money on cars, others invest in collectible watches.

Plus, it sounds like you're getting a good deal from your AD, *and* saving on sales tax... a win-win as we say. And yes, prices in the secondary market have gone up recently.

I get more compliments on the Smurf than I do on any other piece in my collection it seems like. It looks great on the wrist even with a flannel

I don’t think it’s been said....between a WG Sub and your DD....you truly would have a very hard to beat, no need for anything else, duo! IMO

This post is great. I’m in the same boat! What should be expected for discount on this from an AD? I was offered 10% without asking (previous purchase history with the dealer for a few 6 digit models).

Buy from a trusted seller on here and save yourself some money unless of course they will give you a daytona or other steel piece at the AD on a bundle.

I got a BLRO on a bundle, and now a blue Milgauss. Might be worth the extra cheddar

In my particular instance (haven’t pulled the trigger yet), my relationship with my AD gets me a better price than the gray dealers.

I viewed one recently and passed on it as wanted to try the WG Daytona. I’m glad I did as the funds are now needed elsewhere but it’s the only watch I’ve woken up on 2 occasions I’ve thought how much I liked it. I have yet to view the WG BLRO but I would love to have a WG Sub

The smurf is a serious piece of kit !!!

If one can afford it, go for it! Considering you’ll be paying full retail how about use that as leverage to get a Pepsi jubilee as well (on the pretend list!)

What an absolutely killer combo!!

DD40 YG, WG smurf sub, milly, and a Pepsi on jubilee... absolutely unreal!

I'm still debating it. Yes, it was discounted at the AD - very close to a round number, and less than grey's are offering it BNIB.

I don't want a bundle. I like the jubilee pepsi, but if I get the smurf, I won't need/want it. The only other would be the white 116500 but I'd probably flip that for the money. I'm happy with the price the AD is offering - it's still a lot for a watch. I Don't think I could get a discount and a premium SS model, nor do I think I could convince my wife that's a good investment either.

After the smurf my only grail would be a Pt DD which I tried on and love the weight of. I even thought of coughing up the extra for one, but it's not time for one of those.

Be careful. Once you get the Smurf, few other Rolex watches compare. Only the Platona is a worthy match imho!
