I tend to go to shops that give me good service are friendly and polite, I don't like giving my money to people who don't care. That applies to anything be it a pint in a pub or buying a Rolex.

If it was a Timex salesperson I'd be ok with a lack of knowledge, but if I'm spending about 100x for something than I really have to, a little knowledge and enthusiasm on the part of the salesperson wouldn't be a bad idea.

this is part of why i wish i could work at an AD part time
I NEED someone knowledgable.. this isnt a 99 cent throw away, this is a $4-25k watch for christs sake! I need knowledge, and I need someone that makes it FUN... my last purchase the fun was not there and I walked out happy, but feeling shitty about the purchase... that should NEVER happen most of us arent rich, i make less than most on the board here.. for me to drop $6k on my GMTIIc is a BIG DEAL for me... i ended up hearing from the AD's owner directly, who promptly apologized, and sent us out a high end restaurant gift card with the hopes we could make up for the bad day with a good night! GREAT SERVICE and guess what, when we bought again, the wife went RIGHT TO HIM ps - AD gave it the best description I have heard yet.. likening a first rolex or any rolex purchase to buying a first car.. the day is THAT big to us WIS's, and he gets it! GREAT GUY http://www.treiberandstraub.com/ Treiber & Straub Brookfield, WI 262-750-5757 i deal with Patricia there.. Mr. Straub is FANTASTIC and has a good understanding of how things "should" be.. he started this place on his own, and never forgets the customer

Let’s do a reality check! I don’t know about other folks, but when I bought my last three watches, I knew exactly what I wanted. I did my homework for months before I decided on the model and even asked for opinions via poll here as to which GMT model to buy (Pepsi or GMT IIC). I had to drive for three hours each way to Portland, Oregon in order to avoid sales tax here in Washington. When we left the house that morning, I knew exactly what I wanted and the only question that I had for the AD was the discount. I don’t know everything about Rolex, I don’t claim that I know more than the salespersons at the ADs where I purchased my watches, but YES, I knew exactly what I wanted (did I just say that again?) when I showed up at the ADs to buy my watches.
