It's perfectly normal for the Sub to fit awkwardly when compared to the GMT, YM or Daytona. It's the same for me.

Yes...a better fit up maybe to a point though the bigger case still feels just that and heavier. From my own experince, it does wear different from the smaller 40mm models and takes some getting used to.

Have you tried reversing the clasp? I did that on my small flat writs and it sits so much more comfortably now.

The Sub has other qualities, give it time. The 5 digit does not wear better and feels poorly constructed if you are not used to it.

It’s the thickness of the caseback that’s making it uncomfortable. You get used to it eventually but it’s never going to sit as flat and comfortable as a ym or a gmt. Not sure a 5 digit sub will fix anything since they also have a thick case back.

Just looks too big for your wrist to me. I would try something around 36mm for a more comfortable fit.

The sub is fine. Your wrist is however the wrong shape.

If u don’t love it, why hold on to it and buy a rubber strap?
If u don’t love it, send it back. And find the one u actually love

I hate to say it but the SubC is too big for your wrist. You already said it's uncomfortable and doesn't sit properly. It's not going to get any smaller no matter what band you put on it. You'll be banging it against door frames all day long because it hangs off your wrist. My wrist is just under 7" and I've accepted the fact that anything over 40mm (and 6-digit Maxi cases) are too big on me. However, it's your watch and you're free to do as you please. Good luck with whatever you decide. |

Hi Alc,
I think you’re right it is sitting too big. It’s the maxi case, it is looking a little bit dinner-plate-ish in the wrist. I agree totally to swap it for an older exp2 or older sub, the older 5 digit has the smaller case in terms of overall dimensions and I think it would fit a treat. My wrist is only slightly larger than yours and I only just barely get away with the BLNR; one smidge more in size and i wouldn’t wear it as I can’t think of anything worse than the lugs hanging over, there has to be a bit of skin either end showing, in my opinion. The exp2 fits me just perfectly in that regard, even as a sports watch it is actually quite elegant (compared to the new monsters). I have a 39mm exp1 and that looks bigger than the 5 digit GMT or exp2. Sorry for the babble; I definitely agree it doesn’t suit you and definitely switch to a 5 digit sub/gmt/explorer. It will genuinely suit you. For me I like the deep sea but I know for me, it would look ridiculous on me. We have to fess up to these things in life, certain watches are not for everyone. You should get top value back for your sub though so should be no probs !!!! |

Thanks for the solid input, I would love a yacht master II one day but safe to say I’m not built for that monster, Do you think a GMT would be a bad fit as well? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ceramic GMT would be equally as bad as the sub, they are both 40mm maxi case. 5 digit GMT like a coke / pepsi would be superb. We recently bought a GMT master 1 and it’s spot on, however, the 5 digit GMTs are hot right now and may be too pricy so I’d go with the explorer 2 5 digit and save some cash and have a very versatile piece which is also climbing in value. Get in there mate! Cheers

I was considering a 03 04 GMT I like the no holes and ability to swap bezels.

ALC - That's an excellent choice. It will wear much differently than a 6-digit Maxi case and will likely fit you very well. IMHO folks with our wrist size should avoid the Maxi case. It's just a matter of finding what fits comfortably and is proportional to our wrist. 417

Could we see a pic the underside of the clasp? The clasp could be off centered and pulling the watch the other way.
Have you tried putting the half link at 6 o clock? Where is the discomfort coming from? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I had a SubC and also found it uncomfortable. I thought it was top-heavy, and really disliked the protruding case back (ie the Sub's potbelly). I much prefer a watch that sits flat on the wrist, even if it's larger in diameter.

Interesting, but on my Sub C I wear 5.5 on the 12 o’clock side and 4 on the 6 o’clock side. On my SD43, I wear 5 on the 12 o’clock side and 4.5 on the 6 o’clock side. Two different references with the SD43 having a deeper caseback and larger case. Position of the half link does make a big difference to the fit and comfort IMO too |

This.
I have a 16610, a 1680, and a 5513, but no 6-digit. The 116610 visually overwhelms my arm, which is odd because I also have a 42mm Seiko diver which looks completely fine. I think it's just an awkward shape, and it doesn't work for lots of people with lean/normal wrists. |

Good choice. 5-digit models are far superior to the new jewelry pieces.

I have a 6.75 flat wrist, and find this configuration quite comfortable. Hope you are able to find a solution and keep your Sub C as it is a great watch. |
