So now that my curiosity is up I started doing a little research and realize that the F can have a cream dial, but I also noticed a thread talking about fat hands on the tail end of the F series. Well I have the fat hands. Someone also wrote about a dial change from 2005 to 2006. Does anyone know about the specific changes that identify the dial difference?

This reinforces what a special watch the cream dial Daytonas are and undoubtedly will increase dramatically in collectibility and value as there are so few that are in existence.
These Daytonas were not manufactured with this cream dial variation,it is as a result of a reaction within the dial paint that causes the differing shades of,off white, cream and even a green tinted variation. These dial colour variations only happened on the very early p,k series etc,p being the first year of production ie 2000 of the 116520 and thus Rolex realised the indiscretion and corrected the problem and that’s why only a limited number of these now very special sought after dials exist. A funny story, when I bought one of these in Thailand years ago,the dealer let me have the watch with a huge discount as he said the dial was discoloured and damaged Haha makes me chuckle every time I look at that beautiful dial.:lol |

28.000$ Hammer, plus 25% for Phillips and another 19% plus becouse it goes to Germany! So we are at around 42.000$
Not bad... Quote:

Wow these prices are incredible however a rare and very beautiful watch!
I hope people keep posting info and pics on this extremely interesting watch. Perhaps we need a Daytona cream dial owners thread. |

You learn something new here everyday on TRF, I had no idea there was a rare batch of white dial first generation 116520’s floating around. Great info.

That dial is stunning. Almost makes it look like a salmon dial

I’m a noob and been holding out for a Daytona for my first watch. Just purchased a 2000 P number with a panna dial. Was a great find and decided to do some research and found your forum. Glad to join the site and find out my taste is not far off.

I was considering buying a P serial cream dial with no box/warranty. What are your thoughts? Would buy a collectible watch only? Price was around 16.5k

Gentlemen. I received my P series 116520 today and took it over the the AD to look it over. Watch does look good and has a nice subtle color to the dial. I would
Love some advice as to weather I should keep it or not due to some findings. *i have a few days to return. - 2000 model 116520 P series number no box or papers - condition is Very good and came with a Rolex green hologram sticker but the 116520 wiped away when rubbed. Suspicious? - sub dials ,when inspected with a loop, have noticeable tooling marks and scratches from a poor service at some time. I have been running the Chrono for several hours and all seems to be working. - watch is 20 years old and the case and bracelet don’t appear to be polished My question is if the problem with the sundials being damaged and no service records is with sending back and starting the hunt over or am I getting too picky? |
