My wife has more "luxury" purses/handbags, than I have watches.
No LV though,
Couple Gucci, Mont Blanc, Jimmi Choo, couple Prada, those are only the ones I can recall off the top of my head.
She has one wall in the closet for her collection.
I keep telling her, all my watches would fit in ONE of your bags,

Put it this way, Chanel had the guts to raise price 30% last November in Australia while Rolex raised only 10%. So yes, their bags do keep value.

I'm going to start sewing leather, just need a name for folks to obsess over and I'm golden! It's a lot easier than making precision mechanical watches!

Just wait until you have a daughter in High School and now your wife is buying them for her and your daughter, I'd hate to think what my wife has spent on them for pocket books over the last few years. You know a lady needs on of each color.

Thank the Lord my wife couldn't give a rat's about any of this handbag stuff.

Having one in the family obsessing over luxury overpriced goods is enough for us.

Some of you guys must be mega rich when compared to old J!!!!!!!!!!

That or you aint got kids!!!!!!!!!!

I bought an old girlfriend an LV purse back in 1990 and the long strap for the same purse later that year (I remember the strap was $180, but have long since blocked the price of the bag from my memory...). She tells me she still has and uses (not everyday, but often) the bag and strap and says they still look great today. Talking about value - sentimental and otherwise!!

My wife agrees. She thinks that coach is way overpriced .

In Japan the ranking (for popularity and price) is pretty much
Hermes
Chanel
Louis Vuitton
Gucci
Coach

She's now on the look out for a chanel handbag.

Yes, exactly. I asked my wife why she doesn't like coach and her answer was, 'It's just like you and Tag Heuer'. She understands me so well.

Hey, that's cute! I'm not familiar with the brand, though. Off to Google...

My Coach stuff is from the outlet, because a blemish or two doesn't bother me. And, I'm cheap. My current purse is a nylon cutie that I got from Marshalls. I refuse to pay full price.

It's the Lucky Jeans company. Same guys. That purse was about $300, which to me was incredibly expensive!

no, no - that "d'oh" was for me not recognizing the name! They are actually somewhat reasonably priced for the quality and detail.

(and, much cheaper than those guitars).

All I can say is I really like the bag - I got it because I don't like diaper bags and it could hold diaper stuff and my stuff. It's held up really well so far and I use it every day.

A question for the really high-dollar designer bag customers: is theft a big problem? Do you worry about carrying your bag everywhere?

My fiance is an LV freak, but she also likes others. I used to think LV was expensive.

She recently got a Channel and now looking at Bottega Veneta.

I've bought a few bags in the past (not for myself), and theft is never a worry when we went out. If you're traveling in a bad area, people will think it's fake anyway, and the higher the price, the less recognizable it is.
