Very valid point

TRF is just a roaming ground for discussion about which trophy watches and grey dealers.

Seems to have lost its soul a bit.

It all came when Rolex ushered in the shiny new ceramic models with their chunky cases.

I'm a huge watch fan, am avid collector but the fun of collecting rolex is almost gone as of recent. I know plenty of people would wave me off... but i do miss the discussions around tool watches and movements.

Everything is now about how my watch looks against my porsche steering wheel and what the wait time is for the new BLRO...

That missing "a" does make a difference. Without it, however, the question is much more easily answered . . . .

I guess it's worth what someone's willing to pay.... I'd be surprised at these selling for Ł17K, but I bet ya life they've changed hands for Ł14K plus... Not for me, but simply hype/supply/demand.... Like the Pepsi, they'll come back a bit. I don't believe it's a watch that will drop below Ł13K in the foreseeable future with the way things are, which is still circa 180% of retail

It's all a game at the end of the day!

Agreed, don’t seem to see any of the older posters anymore, where has Dr Tom gone?

Rolex has become about greed now, very sad.

Batgirl is just as stupid as Batman or Hulk. The whole Rolex world has gone crazy as far as I am concerned. I love my Rolex's but not because they have a cute name. In fact, I don't even like it when people call my 16710 a "Pepsi" although I am forced to use the term because most people today don't even know the history of the watches.

Quick story, A few weeks ago someone at work mentioned they liked my "Pepsi Rolex." I looked puzzled for a second and replied, you mean my "Pan AM?" Guy looked at me like I had 3 heads and asked, What is a "Pan AM?" He had no idea the history of the GMT watch but I'm sure he overpaid for his BLRO.

I get that it's easier to use nicknames. I get that in the grand scheme of things this is all fluff. As someone who loves Horology, I'm just a little sorry to see Rolex go the way of Fashion over Tool. Still great timepieces though.

Seriously.

The tone and themes have changed drastically the last few years.

The sad thing is that it's only going to get worse as more new people join.

+1. It used to be about collecting watches. Now it's mainly about trading pork bellies, and about as interesting.

No! From what I understand "Batgirl" has been Rejected by the WIS Community.

IMHO this topic has been put to rest.

Seems the people pushing for the "Batgirl" nickname are those who have the original BLNR and maybe, just maybe, aren't thrilled there's an updated version already.

No one said anything when the BLRO was put on jubilee.

Silly. It's a nice watch. Maybe the derogatory implication of a nickname like Batgirl came about from folks angry they might not be able to get a BLNR on an Oyster from an AD or possibly worried a new version of the BLNR might devalue their discontinued model they might have already had.

These nicknames are elementary and nonsensical. I cannot believe Batman has actually caught on to the point it is used worldwide and synonymous with the BLNR GMT. I feel social media may certainly be to blame.

If you have a batgirl and Batman in the same collection is it possible they they could have bat babies? This could be the solution to the stainless steel shortage!
