Omega and Tudor swap for a Rolex Explorer?

None of these watches are particularly rare nor hard to get, so why not sell the Tudor and PO for the Exp? Worse case you can flip the exp, reacquire the PO, and be ahead the value of the Tudor, which will NEVER see any wrist time competeting against a GMT, PO, and MM, IMHO.

Or sell the Tudor and get an older 36mm exp, shouldn't put you out too much. A more classic size that can do the dressy/sporty thing a bit differently than your current watches.

The Tudor is very nice to look at, but isn't that special. If it was the black/gilt BB58, I'd be more hesitant. I'd sell that first, then really consider selling the PO. That'd leave you with the Seiko (I can understand the resistance to sell that. I've never seen one in the flesh & is a really robust piece.), the GMT2 & an Exp1. Personally, I'd skip the Exp1 & go for a DJ. It's a bit dressier, especially in YG/SS & the fluted bezel is lovely. 1601s, like mine, can be had in the $4k range. New, IDK, probably close to double that.

I would make that trade. The 214270 Explorer is going to add a great deal of versatility to what you have, and those PO's are a dime a dozen on the secondary market if you have seller's regret some day. I have the first generation SM PO with the Cal. 2500 (ref. 2201.50) and have kept it over the years just because what it would bring in trade was never worth what I might've felt if I let it go, but I would take my 16610 sub over the PO any old day. I enjoy the 39 mm low-profile case of the Explorer, the slanted, fixed bezel and the fact it fits under a shirt sleeve if I'm inclined to wear it with a sport coat or blazer or even a suit in a not particularly dressy situation. I don't have a Marine Master, but have a "Baby Marine Master" with the blue bezel and black dial, and I'm a big fan of the upper range Seiko divers. I also have the LN version GMT II, as well as a Tudor BBH black, so as you see, we have a good deal of overlap in our respective accumulations.

In short, I would probably pull the trigger on that deal were I in your shoes.

I went/am going through a similar phase. I recommend selling your PO/BBB to fund an Explorer, or a polar explorer or Datejust. You have a very nice 116710LN — a very versatile watch. As others have noted, all your watches have black (or almost black) rotating bezels. The GMT is going to win most mornings, and the MM300 seems to be the watch you really admire. I think you move the other two for something a little different — Explorer, Explorer II, Datejust, etc — Less is more.

I have the PO and the Explorer Mk II and like the Tudor. I'd personally probably let both go for the Explorer Mk II and then consider ditching the Seiko for a Summariner (no date) and add a Speedmaster Sapphire Sandwich and then you'd have all your sport watch bases covered.

I would get the exp. I think it’s also very easy to get caught up in trying to acquire the next Rolex once you buy one, we all go through this... I would give it some time and see how much you really want the exp. like others have said, it’s not hard to reacquire these watches so you can always reverse the acquisition. Good luck w your decision...

No, what you have is much better than what you would get.

And do not get rid of that tudor or PO. The newer PO is way too big and the new black bay has those dumb fake rivets in the bracelet.

The explorer is boring as hell compared to either of those watches. I wouldn’t even trade either of them straight across for an explorer.

I mush admit the Tudor is the most vulnerable. Doesn’t mean it will go though. I was here to try and cull the collection, now I’m more than likely buying another one.

The way I see it is you can always get another one then reevaluate if you still want to keep what you have.

With the MM and GMT, I’d never wear the PO or Tudor, but the Explorer would fit in nicely in the collection.

I’d even pick up an Oysterflex for the Explorer for extra versatility from time to time.

I have the explorer and love it. Think it can easily find a spot in any collection. That being said, I have been looking for a PO2500. I would not sell that one.
