It seems so. I feel the gmt chnr has really reminded us how beautiful two tone can be.

Not sure if too many people would agree with me, but after seeing many full RG CHNR's in AD showcases, I feel the two tone looks nicer than the full RG (nothing to do with price)

This is what Rolex has been working on, reduce production of the low profit SS and pushing the higher profit margin TT. When an uniformed customer comes in to buy a SS GMT but are told we don't have them and you can't order them but here we can get you a TT GMT for bit more... Simple is that.

it is true. the contrast makes the watch more luxurious in two tone, indeed nothing to do with price

It seems that more people who cannot get near a SS hot model are considering TT. Apart from being striking in their own right, they offer more material value than a hyped SS sibling. Personally I like the variety that TTs add to my mostly SS collection. I have a Bluesy and a Sky Dweller TT black will join it this year. Each to our own. I wouldn't own anything that I didn't adore. Full YG or RG doesn't chime with me, but I have seen a Smurf and damn! What a beauty.

With rose gold I’d say yes. Yellow gold not so much.

I get his point. I think the two tone blue sub looks better than the full gold. I do own one, and price is not the issue, I just like the aesthetic better.

I work for a fashion company and have a tons of millennials in the office, and the 80s classic DJ TT with champagne dial is popping up a lot more. Smaller watches overall too.

Anecdotally I’d say yes. Two tone was my most recent purchase.

I’ll admit I didn’t really consider one until I got tired of waiting on a SS white dial and saw the PM Daytonas climb in price and exceed what I’m willing to pay, but I’m VERY happy with this.

Beautiful watches especially the TT Daytona! This is exactly what Rolex is going with the SS sport - Rolex makes the SS sport almost impossible to get or extremely expensive to get aftermarket that customer will opt for the more expensive TT from the AD. In this case both Rolex and customer are happy.

You can see this strategy with the new SD43 that Rolex has introduced the TT SD43 and keeps the SS SD43 hard to get while pushing the TT SD43.

Moving forward SS sports are Rolex place holders while TT is Rolex bread and butter or major source of income.

I’ve noticed a high level of sales of 5 digit TT DJ 16233 on eBay this year.

My two-tone Sub is my favorite watch. Doesn't matter the age of the wearer or popularity.

And you know the TT looks better than the SS Black which looks dull by comparison.

I tend to agree! Love them both for what they are and would be hard pressed to keep just one at this point.

Are two tone watches making a come back?

I just sold my TT Daytona, I’m sure they are going to double in price so I can’t get it back. However, in the end I just could not stand the contrasting gold/SS bracelet. My wife really liked it though and is mad for me selling it so now what do I do..

Two tone has been popular by Rolex for over 50 years. Nothing has changed aside from the development of an irrational hype surrounding SS sport models making TT appear less popular. Make no mistake though, TT is still selling. A TT DJ in YG champagne dial is synonymous with the word “Rolex,” probably even more so to a random person on the street than a SS Sub is.

But at the end of the day, you buy what you like and that’s all there is to it.

The recently discontinued GMT2 116713LN is one of the best looking TTs available.

Looks sooooo good.

I think I am really liking the look of the 116713 - but I invariably see people/commentary being a bit down on it.

It seems quite polarising?

I wonder how it will hold up now that production has stopped?
