Is the SD50 perfect?

It’s close but you need the right wrist size. I enjoy eating it, but it’s way to big for me to consider as a one and only or daily. (7” wrist btw).

The 16600 and 116600 are the perfect SeaDwellers IMO

Why is it then ‘nonsense’ to refer to it as the 50th anniversary model?

It’s referred to here on TRF as the SD43 due to its case size, but SD50 is actually more relevant imo.

To answer the OP’s original question, yes I think it might be - I would love to add this reference to my collection as I think it’s a stunning piece.

My mistake - I may have had too many drams tonight. I was getting the SD50 nomenclature confused with the claimed "MKI" and "MKII" dials.

SD 50 is comfortable on my wrist. It is beautifully rugged, feels indestructible. Perfect.

Pretty damn close if you have 7 inch wrist or more. Rolex got the proportion’s perfect, and it’s a bold stunner on the wrist.

It is a large, heavy, thick and ridiculously over-built watch that has a silly depth rating. If that makes it perfect for someone, then that is great, and they should buy one and enjoy it for decades. It's a bit like someone buying a Hummer H1 to run to the grocery around the corner.

Not a fan of this one personally, but maybe that’s because it’s too big for me.

It’s funny, people were crying out for a bigger SD when the 116600 was launched, and then when the SD43 came out there was a lot of love. But over time, love for the SD43 has died down, and people now seem to really appreciate the size of the 116600.

I’ve had my 116600 since 1st May 2014 and I like it today as much, if not more, than I did five years ago.
