Your concerns about it coming from Venezuela, are based on your own perception, not others.

I have never understood why people buying a second hand watch cares from which country it was sold, it has ALWAYS been manufactured in Switzerland and it was NEVER sold to you (ie name on card) in the first instance even if NOS.
I’m not sure if I was told a story just for dealer to negotiate on the price of my watch or it’s actually true, but in Germany they prefer to buy a German registered watch much more than a ‘Chinese’ (meaning anything with Asian language characters). I find that strange, how much more in that case, €500 or €1000? What about a watch where the previous owner is dead? I was looking at a watch that belonged to a guy semi-famous in his line of work but now deceased. Personally I thought it’s a cool story but others might be creeped out. I think people that do care where the watch was registered or such things don’t buy used, or shouldn’t, since they get easily stressed which is opposite of the good feeling you should have with a luxury purchase. |

What you are saying about US warranty is an interesting point since it might translate to an actual difference, if the watch is less than 5yo. |

A Rolex is a Rolex. Some vintage have different bracelets based on country, but modern references are identical. Made in Switzerland, shipped worldwide.
In this market probably worth more as it’s exotic!!!

I haven't heard of the opposite happening in Europe/Asia/etc., but just in case I would take US card into consideration if I was buying a watch still under warranty. That's the only distinction I am making. Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Japan, Turkey, Hong Kong, Canada, Australia, Venezuela - couldn't care less. USA - would have to think about it. Or if I was living in USA, I would then take that into consideration and prefer USA watches. If OP lived in USA, it would make sense for him to want a local watch to avoid potential hassles with warranty repairs if the watch still has warranty. Quote:

You can always toss the papers and tell people it was originally sold to Charlie Sheen. I see no issue.

If you don't speak Spanish, can you still tell what time it is from a Rolex in Venezuela?

No problem,
Venezuela was once quite a wealthy country ,,, I imagine a lot of people over there are having to liquidise there assets now,, |

The only time I could see it possibly affecting value is while the watch is still in warranty. But even then it wouldn’t be an exclusive issue to South America, it would be an issue for any foreign AD relative to where you live.
RSC (NY) has turned down warranty service because of the AD origination. They’ve said they require original receipts and bill of sale to properly transfer the warranty. In my eyes that decreases the value of a watch that’s supposed to be under warranty simply cause of the head ache that comes with it. Aside from all that, no, if the watch is authentic and originally sold from an AD there’s absolutely no difference in value. |

If it is legit and it has all the papers and whistles from an AD, WHY NOT ? The world is a big place it is irrelevant where it came from. What you care about if it was born at Rolex geneva and if that can be substantiated.
You run far greater risk in other aspects from other origins where they can turn it into a frankenwatch more readily. |
